So. Tomorrow I go to buy a 1996 Ford Escort wagon. 1.9 single cam, no tach, but it's a manual. Apparently had the 1.8 twin cam originally, but that was swapped out by the current owner who didn't like it for some reason. May or may not be keeping the Sunbird; depends on if there's enough life left in the engine to drag itself back home, and after that, how long it takes for my mother to get sick of having two not-particularly-pretty economy cars sitting in her driveway. The whole car is spraycan flat black except for the bumpers (apparently not original to the car) already, so I can apply ironic florescent orange flames without feeling bad about it. I'm thinking flames off both wheel wells, maybe more coming off whatever lower grill opening there is, then "NO WAY YOU'LL CATCH ME" stenciled on the tailgate and "NO WAY YOU'LL ESCAPE" on the leading edge of the hood. I'm a ricer at heart.
Sounds like something @Potato would do if he was rich. http://jalopnik.com/this-couple-is-selling-a-never-registered-2003-mercury-1797702796
Broke my socket wrench the other day. I'd to buy a good complete kit for a decent price. Does anyone know a decent brand? Because Facom sets cost easily about 200€ and I don't want to spend that much.
Saw a really cool Renault today: Done a number plate lookup on it, looks good for 1997. The rear end was nice too. Only between 22-45 seem to be registered in the UK depending on which quarter of the year you look at.
meh i still prefer the Avantime Renault used to always make a unique car, like the Clio V6, this, the vel satis, the espace back in 1984 but now they are making crossovers like the names too, like Kadjar and Captur, just odd now, i miss old renault
oh yeah that the twizy is pretty weird i was looking forward to the Renault Wind though but the concept was different to the production.
Personally I never really liked how the wind looked much. Plus the word wind can mean fart in some situations in English depending on how juvenile you want to get However I do quite like the Peugeot RCZ, sadly they have ended sale of that now. Just saw an older model on Autotrader which looks pretty nice.
yeah the renault fart the amount of jokes me and my dad made about that O/T: Yeah the RCZ and the Wind were quite nice cars, but ill have to admit the RCZ is the better car, like the concept of the wind is good but the actual car was a bit of a disappointment
I don't know what tool brands you guys have in France, but here Snap-On is probably the best quality and you pay for that. Craftsman is usually much cheaper but still has a lifetime warranty on most of their stuff.
Time to join a new thread Saw a PT loser a few years back. But not just any PT, but one that had at least 8 trump bumper stickers, the old lady was flicking cigarette buts out the window, she was driving 20 in a 40 zone, and swerving everywhere. Jesus that was sad.
I much prefer the Scenic. With "Bicycles" wheels I mean 20"x195mm that's the stupidest wheels sized I've ever heard of. With only 110 misarable HP it's totally useless. 195mm, that's almost as thick as the steelies on the Golf. I'll have a look but I don't think they're sold here
What do you guys think will there be a Mazda rx9 or not im hoping for one because if it looks anything like the concept itll look gorgeous and the sound that goes with it will be perfect too
So I just got a new car... it costed me 550$. If your wondering why I bought it out of all cars, I am a HUGE j-body enthusiast. It is a 1984 Pontiac j2000 ( early name for the sunbird ). It has 156,000 miles and is a 5 speed hatchback. It needs a starter, new brakes, new carpet maybe, new door panel for drivers side, and probably lots of other stuff I don't know about yet! Here it is! Ponty Fernando python jr. !!
Welcome, fellow J-body driver! Hopefully I can get mine revived sooner rather than later. Too much oil like an idiot > hosed rings > bent rod in cylinder #5 > $$$
Did you pour till it came out of the fill hole? I guess I can't really talk though, cause I ran mine out of oil.
No. I had it parked on a slant and didn't want to back it down the driveway to where it was level; I really don't remember why but it was probably something stupid. I didn't pour quite that much oil in, but since it came up to the "full" line on the dipstick while facing up a hill, it was over-filled. Stupid me thought it was better to be a little over than a little under, but it turns out that doesn't apply to oil.
That's really, really strange. You would have to overfill an engine a lot for something like that to happen. I don't see how it's possible at all, frankly, to bend a rod by putting too much oil in. Sounds fishy to me.
Well, most likely, the rings went first and started letting oil get past the pistons, causing the engine to continue burning oil even after I drained out the excess. Oil apparently doesn't compress well/at all.
Yeah, when I got to thinking about it that was the only explanation I could come up with. That's rough. Happens to the best of us.
