    Should have only expected 80 or so anyway considering horsepower figures are at crank and you lose about 10-20% through drivetrain.

    This is a reason why I hate German cars. What the fuck is up with these complicated names?

    E34 is the chassis family. 525i model number. Touring, wagon variant. So overcomplicated and no different to saying a Holden VF Commodore Wagon.

    Atleast they got their numbering down. Also if you leave out the model number its easy to make it look simplier but how do you know how much power your H VF C W has?
    What if it is just an Evoke? A SS? A SV6? (Just using Wikipedia here lol). With 525i you know it got a big car with 2 liters running on petrol. With 330d you know it's a smaller car with a bigger motor running on Diesel.

    That VX VY VZ just seems like "We are out of options ... what next? VE + VF! Gotta start somewhere again."

    You could just say "that was a nice BMW 5 series limo" and it wouldn't be any different to a "Holden VF Commodore Wagon". Because you need Wikipedia anyways to know which generation VF is anyways.

    The North American market got the BMW E34 525i and 530i Touring, but never saw the 540i or M5 Touring. I'd imagine that they're very uncommon, as I don't think I've ever seen one.

    Its pretty obvious looking at them which is the newest, you'd have to be a nutcase to see a VL & VF and not know which is the newer model.

    Evoke is the base model V6, SV6 is obviously a performance V6, SS is the V8.

    Also, when I heard people shipped wrecked Utes & Wagons into America I thought it'd be a nice gentle process.
    But no, they ship it over like its garbage.. :mad:

    It's not obvious at all, I have no idea which is the newer model. I don't even know if these are "utes" or coupes or sedans you're talking about (without looking it up).

    How can I know, right off the bat, that an Evoke is the base model compared to an SV6? Evoke? wut?

    But you see, if the car is labelled "touring", I know it's wagon, designed for touring.

    Sorry HadaCoolName, but 6677 and Cira seem right to me.

    The best way to put it is that if BMW launched a new car and just gave the name people would be able to what the car will be and some of its specifications based only on the name. If Holden were to launch a new car with name vg no one would have any idea what that would be at all. This is why the naming scheme of BMWs makes a lot of sense, you can figure out what it will be based upon the name. Mercedes do a very similar thing with their naming system. Citroen also do it to a lesser extent with the c3, c4 etc. But if ford were to launch a new car called the spatium i would have no idea what it would be at all, even after shoving it into google translate i would only know that the car was going to be spacious and you dont even get that luxury with Holdens naming scheme.

    I don't like model names that consist of only numbers and/or letters in general.
    And just to weigh in here, BMW's method is a lot simpler than whatever the hell all of these letters I keep seeing thrown around mean.

    Nissan really knows how to do chassis and engine numbers.

    KA24DE

    -> KA = engine name

    ->24 = 2.4 L displacement

    -> D = DOHC

    -> E = electronic fuel injection

    Australians descended from Europe, yet we hate each others stuff. :p

    It is obvious if you look at them. VL left, VF right

    Also I think its best we end this because when Europeans get onto the topic of Aussie cars, it doesn't end well.

    I have one more Aussie thing to add. I just recently started Emulating Gran Turismo 4 on PC and they have Holden and FPV.

    The FPV GT is pretty damn quick. Almost 400hp and this was back in 2004. The FPV F6 Typhoon reminds me of the Lotus Carlton with more manageable power and moderately better handling. Sucks we never got them in the US. I haven't driven the Holden Commodore SS (VY). It's less powerful than the Fords but lighter.

    It SUCKS so much that I will never get to drive one...

    Okay. Japan time.

    What do we think of the Nissan Stagea? I'd be 25 when I can import one. First year of production was 1996.

    Pretty much a Skyline wagon with (what I think is) better styling.

    I'm watching cops. The people they shove into the back of their cars are disgusting.
    Im wiping down every interior surface behind the b pillar with disinfectant wipes as soon as I get home. I've already cleaned back there once, but I wanna clean it more thoroughly.
    I don't like being away from the crown vic. :(
