The Focus' clutch bite point was more near the top. Escort's was much more far off near the bottom. I thought it was like the Focus'.
What the heck is that supposed to be Toyota? My poor eyes... Please tell me it's just a concept and it won't actually be like that... The previous Prius actually looked ok. This one is absolutely hideous!
No 2 clutches are alike, hell, wear makes 2 near identical vehicles have slightly altered clutch behaviour. The same way a little bit of practice leads to picking up the clutch in your own car, a bit more practice hopping between different vehicles and you start to be able to adapt to the finer points of each a little more quickly. Just take it slow like it was your first time ever driving a stick so you can relearn the bite for each engine.
Yeah, when I drove my grandpa's Ranger after driving his Fiesta I was revving the engine up before letting the clutch out to bring it down because the biting point was more to the top but I'm getting better at it.
I've noticed that older Toyota's tend to be the vehicle of choice for taxi drivers, at least in Central and South America. Almost every taxi I could see while I was in Roatan, Honduras was either a E100 Corolla, or a E130 Matrix. Most taxi cabs in Cozumel, Mexico were surprisingly Chevy Express Passenger vans, and I even saw a GMT400 Suburban there. It was very also interesting to see Mazda B-Series pickup's, and other Mazda's the US market has never seen, such as a Mazda 2 sedan.
I can tell you have a shorter rear gear than me. My car won't break the tires lose from a stop unless I really try. I think we have similar power ratings though. I have the intake and dual exhaust from a P-71 (No resonators).
Yeah, probably around the same power coming from the engine, but the merc has a 2.73 a probably couple hundred pounds on my P71. A 3.55 or 3.73 swap would probably wake it up pretty well. I really like the 3.55 in my car. Makes it pretty fast off the line but it's still a high enough gear for comfortable highway driving.
From what I can see our cars should weigh roughly the same. Mine is 4050lbs. The 2006 P-71 shipped at 3990. I have aluminum front control arms and I also wonder if the drive by wire system adds weight... The air suspension can't add to much. The compressor isn't to heavy. The rubber springs are probably lighter than the steel springs. Edit-I still need to get a video of the new mufflers... Maybe tomorrow. Depends when I get out of work.
That's surprising, I figured the power everything and big heavy bench seats and gizmos and stuff would amount to more. Maybe the heavy duty mechanical stuff makes the P-71s heavy, like the rear sway bar and coil springs. The only place I could think of the drive by wire adding weight is the throttle body, and I could only see it being a pound or two heavier than the old throttle bodies, at most.
Sooo... What cars do people have? Like in real life.. I got a Volvo 850 which costed me about 3500$ and 1000$ yearly in taxes, and that doesnt include the gasoline money D: But anyways, nice car, spoiler soon and slighly green to piss off my friends So, anyone else got a good car? Note: Im just 18, 19 the 26 august, so ill stick to a Volvo for some time!
Not really a car -- I drive a 1995 Chevy Silverado, even after 20 years and 250,000 miles of tough love, still worth her weight in gold. Sure she's gone through a few parts (2 engines, rebuilding trans now, various door handles, pins, and plastic assemblies, 3 grills, a front bumper, and some bondo), but every time the snow is 5' deep it's -10F and everything else has left me stranded, Old Faithful has always got my back (unless she's in the shop after bulldozing through a deer). I'm actually about to do a restoration on it this winter, finances permitting. And yes, that is an 1100lb hay bale in the bed - because work truck.
We have a few threads on the cars we own. Might want to see one of these 3: Dream-Cars-and-Your-Cars *off-topic*-Cars-You-Drive/page44 and when you stick the spoiler on (my *personal* opinion, spoilers do not suit that car): What-did-you-do-to-your-vehicle-today But to answer the question, this 2000 Ford Focus Ghia Estate with the 1.8 Zetec engine is my baby: I am going to list it for sale this week.
2002 GMC Sonoma SLS. It's fully loaded and suits me perfectly. Also, torque. Lots of torque from my V6.
Okay, After 3 months or so, here is a video (well... picture and audio) of the Grand Marquis with the dual Thrush Welded mufflers.
