Awesome. I’ve always been more of a John Deere guy, but those’re cool, too.

It's not a rollback, it's an aluminum flatbed with a headache rack and short, fold-down bed walls.

I could say that my garage has a clear '03 Opel Zafira pattern.
If I had a garage, that is.

At people of the forums, why does a CVT need a clutch?

How is it supposed to shift otherwise? Autos have a clutch, it is just automatically engaged

Internal Combustion Engines - ICEs have a pretty limited rev range and need to maintain a certain idle speed for an acceptable level of smoothness of power delivery. At the same time, a lot of traffic situations require the wheels of the vehicle to be stationary which is an issue if the engine is supposed to keep running.

While a theoretical transmission could reduce the wheel speed to basically zero, such a transmission would be very bulky as you need a lot of reduction gearing to turn 1000 something RPM into basically zero.

So in practise, resulting wheel speed at idle would be quite high, leading to vehicle movement even though you do want no movement. Of course, the brakes could handle that but that would result in the engine fighting the brakes via the transmission and the drivetrain... and something will give in and it is not going to be the brakes or the engine.

So for low speed operation and stationary operation, you really want a way to mechanically seperate the wheels from the running engine.

Two principal ways exist to achieve that:

Torque Converter - which uses a fluid to transfer forces and as such can handle stationary wheels without issues as the fluid coupling will simple slip. This is what the Sunburst uses.

Clutch - Force is partially transferred using friction and once the clutch is fully engaged, it acts like a solid piece which is great for efficiency as no fluid is pumped arround. The drawback is that the clutch will wear and also that any extended use of slipping will quickly overheat and wear the clutch. This is what the Aurata uses.
The Aurata in fact uses a centrifugal clutch that engages at a certain RPM treshold no matter the driving condititions which is more than good enough for its sane powered version but can lead to pretty fast clutch overhead in the high powered version with spirited driving.
