Yup it is lol. Cheaper than buying large mouse pads. I think this one was less than $20. I think they are for yugioh.

960 over a 670. Newer, higher performance, draws less power, generates less heat and noise.
My GTX 580 is still quite powerful but draws like 400 Watts and the fans can get quite loud, for instance.

I was wondering why my Dell Latitude's screen was so laggy. Installed new GPU drivers and stuff, nothing helped...
As a last hope I opened up Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, to check if some weird extreme power saving mode was active.
Then I saw my screen was set on a 40 Hz refreshrate
Set it on 60 Hz and everything's smooth again!

That being said, what is a decent cpu for running around 3-4 D15's on gridmap?

Yugioh, Pokemon, Magic the gathering or any other card game really. Have seen cards against humanity played on one, but then I do play alot of various party oriented card games (such as CAH) in a pub and a few of those guys bring them so they have something to put cards on without them getting beer marks on them etc. I do play magic the gathering, but not seriously enough to own a mat for it...

Desktop i5 4th gen for sure, maybe an i3 would do the job as well (four threads).
I've no experience with AMD CPU's.

I posted this earlier, but was buried with another discussion going on. :(

How far do you think I can overclock my R7 370 (4GB)? I'm up to 1080 Mhz on core, and 5640 on memory. My temps have never gone above 70 degrees Celsius, and never used more than 45% fan power.

Little cards can go really far, I ran my 750 ti at 1550Mhz all the time I owned it. That's with a single fan, no power/voltage slider, and never going over 65 C

Would a Intel i3 4160 work with a Radeon HD 7700 GPU? If not, would you really need a good GPU with it?
If this question seems stupid, its because I know little about this topic, and the i3's have a GPU inside them, or something like that. Don't judge.
    JUST DO IT
    Thanks.

I don't think there is a HD 7700. There is a 7750 though. The i3 has a GPU inside called Intel HD Graphics, but that one is not made for gaming. More for office work and very simple games.
If it is a separate GPU (for instance the 7750) you can plug it in the appropriate slot. It's not hard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaMpylOUM9k

Make sure your PSU has enough power and the right connectors (6 and/or 8 pin), and that the GPU fits in your case! Download drivers and you're good to go!

    I have settled on an R9 390X and a BenQ XL2730Z 27" FreeSync monitor.

Thats a great upgrade from an HD 7850 1GB and an ASUS VE228.

In terms of raw CPU power, you're really looking at an Intel CPU. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Beam.ng Drive usually spreads the load of vehicle processing over a few cores, so in theory an AMD CPU with more cores for the money is theoretically better for running the aforementioned 3-4 D15s. However, AMD CPUs, even the most recent Piledriver AMD FX 8350 models, Are often moderately to significantly worse with performance per core, compared to a comparably priced Intel Core i5 4690k, with performance (Up to 4 cores) being 52% better on the Intel side. Even multicore performance benchmarks (Thus utilising the 8 cores of the AMD) finds the AMD CPU only being 15% higher. What's more, Very few games (Including, I think, Beam.ng to an extent) can fully utilise all 8 cores, meaning that the 15% performance advantage is not usually the case. (Benchmarks: http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-vs-AMD-FX-8350/2432vs1489)

At the cheaper end of the CPU spectrum, You have The Intel Core i3 4170 comparing up against the Steamroller AMD A10- 7850k. Both have 4 threads, but the Intel only has 2 cores, the other 2 being hyperthreaded 'virtual cores'. Still, in synthetic benchmarks, The core i3 was 50% faster in single core, and 12 percent faster in multicore benchmarks. However, the utilisation of hyperthreaded CPUs in Beam.ng is not very clear. (Benchmarks:
    http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i3-4170-vs-AMD-A10-7850K-APU/m28214vs2937)

It all depends on your budget. The Intel i5 and AMD FX 8350 are both around $260 Australian, and the Intel i3 and A10-7850k are around $170 AUS

    Hope that helps. :)

BeamNG uses one CPU thread for each vehicle and assigns multiple vehicles to a single thread when vehicles > cpu threads. In theory more cores = more cars before performance starts dropping. In reality it's a bit more complicated.

The FX8350 models are 3 years old already though. But yes, performance per core is indeed much better on Intel CPUs, however a 4690K is almost £50/$90(aus) more.

BeamNG and many other compute-heavy applications make use of the processor's FPU (Floating Point Unit). AMD FX CPUs have a single FPU shared between two cores, so Intel CPUs actually perform much better in multi-thread floating point applications even with half as many cores.

Hyperthreaded dual core is to BeamNG the same as a quad core, might be slightly slower but usually works fine. i3-4170 vs 7850K, go for the i3 unless you're planning to use integrated graphics.

That page is pretty useless, those results are based on just one benchmark. Pages like CPU-World an Anandtech have a huge list of benchmarks to compare.

    http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/448/AMD_FX-Series_FX-8350_vs_Intel_Core_i5_i5-4690K.html
    http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/697?vs=1261

And wao, the FX 8350 is really expensive there (or the i5 is super cheap), in the US you have a 70$ diference between them.

By the way, pick the 8320/E, 8310, 8300 instead of 8350 and OC it. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1403?vs=1261 Tigetdirect sells the 8310 at 120$ + 5$ shipping, basically same price as the i3 4170.

Another thing, I dont know why you're comparing the 4170 vs the 7850K, if you're going to pair that CPU with a dGPU dont pick an APU, instead pick the Athlon 860K that is the same CPU without iGPU for 75$, the i3 is still a better CPU, but here you're comparing a 75$ Athlon vs a 120$ i3.

Yeah, that was my mistake, the Intel Core i5 4690k in Australia is around $100 more (Whoops!) However you can get an Intel Core i5 4460 or an Intel core i5 6400 for around $285, and they're both still similarly powerful in comparison to the AMD fx- 8350, while being only $20-30 more expensive

@BlueScreen- Thanks for the information about how Beam.ng distributes computing load for the vehicles, how Beam.ng utilises Floating point unit performance, and how Beam.ng utilises hyper-threaded cores (we learn something new every day :))

@Samuel1995- I used that page as it provides a rough average for component performance, but even looking at other sites (including CPU world, CPU boss), the Intel i5 4690k is around 50% faster in single threaded performance, and similar in multi threaded benchmarks. (the i5 4460/6400 is slightly less powerful, but still comparable). I chose the 8350 and the 7850k as they were at the same price point to the i5 4690k (Or so I thought!) and the core i3 4170 on the Australian site I use (Mwave.com.au). I used the 7850k instead of the Athlon 860k as the Athlon wasn't sold in Australia, and it means that when using an AMD GPU , you can crossfire the iGPU and the dGPU for more graphics performance.
    (860k only through ebay for $170: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GA124449...e-Processor-/111764664412?hash=item1a05b1705c)

That is called dual graphics and does not make sense, an 860K + 260x/750 is way better than the iGPU 7850K OC + Dual channel 2400 MHz RAM + dual graphics with a 250 (that is the maximun card that you can dual graphics with the 7850k).

    7850K (125$) + r7 250 (80$) = 205$ (And I didn't count those 2400MHz ram price).
    860K (75$) + 260x (120$) = 195$. That destroys the Dual graphics setup in every posible way: http://www.techspot.com/review/781-amd-a10-7850k-graphics-performance/page6.html

And this is not over yet, pay 40$ more for a GTX 950 and you have a GPU that performs two times more than the 260x: http://www.techspot.com/review/1049-nvidia-geforce-gtx-950/
(The 260x does not appear in those charts, but the 750 TI does and it is also better than the 260x).

    Australia is weird. xD

Please, dont look CPU-Boss benchmarks, they are based mainly in Passmark benchmarks (Among others), the problem with passmark is that Steamroller performs extremly good there, the 860K beats the 4170 there. Amazing but, that is the only benchmark that shows that performance, there aren't games or apps where the 860K performs like that.

The i5 4460 is a great CPU for gaming, I even consider that one a better option than the 4690K (because there ain't significant differences between them on games)

The fact that the AMD APUs can only dual graphics with up to an r7 250 is surprising. I would've thought they'd give support up to the highest r7 branded GPU (the 260x).

Again, I can find no trace of an Athlon 860k in Australia. It's not in any of the stores I searched (Even on ebay, the only ones are from the USA, and the price of one of those is around$170AUD; look at my last post)

Still, the 860k and 260x does look like quite a bargain. If only we had 860k CPUs in Aus... :(

Also, it there any reason why the steamroller is abnormally powerful in Passmark?
