Well, I had yet another Western Digital hard drive fail, that makes 4 for me now. It's getting replaced with a Seagate.
I was about to go to sleep then. But anyway, don't know if I'm even gonna have the laptop for long because the touchpad is having some issues and it might be a problem in the touchpad itself. The store don't have any of these laptops left and there isn't anything with similar specs (only worse) in the same price range.
I now have an "improper boot device" for no reason. It's been in AHCI mode for ages now but all of a sudden no, its not booting any more unless I'm in IDE. It still doesn't load any main folders either. Every problem is a storage device or windows error relating to one. I despise them, this happens once every couple of months. Edit: So i got it booting in AHCI mode by launching into safe mode and back into windows. The slow loading folders are also not an issue in safe mode and work just fine but not in regular windows.
Then it's an external program, not Windows itself, causing the issue. Some programs that add features to the Windows shell (such as right-click menu items) can cause it to freeze or slow down. Try disabling all additions to the Windows shell (there's an option somewhere, can't remember where exactly), then enable them one by one until you find the offending program and delete it.
Yeah I'm still not totally sure on what it could be, I've removed the only change that I've made so which is in a right click menu. Other wise its totally default and even with that gone the problem still occurs. As for the disabling all additions i can't find it anywhere so its hard to know the other issues.
what performance can expect/is it overkill? Mainboard MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Prozessor Intel Core i5 4690K (@ bis zu 4x 4.40GHz) MSI GeForce GTX 960 2GB 8GB DDR3-1600 RAM 1000GB S-ATA-III Festplatte 120GB SSD (Solid State Drive)
You'll get great performance in most games @1080p. BeamNG will run very well with that build. You might want to look at the R9 380, it does perform a bit better than the 960 at the same price.
nah i already bougt a second hand g-sync monitor ps.: im a nvidia fanboy and the R9 380 is more expensive here edit: any other ideas for changes? pps.:ram doesn't realy matter right?
Anyone know exactly what would cause this issue on my wife's laptop. Check the plug and all the wires it looks fine so far on the plug.
If you mean the big line thing, looks like one of the ribbon connectors inside the panel could have gone bad. They look like these thingamajigs: If new panels are cheap, consider replacing it yourself. Also, did you try jiggling the other end of the cable that connects to the board on the back of the LCD panel itself?
I seem to have installed a font on my computer for steam, but now its taking effect on youtube too. Halp.

I finally fixed my issues with the main folders and thumbnails now loading It was actually caused by the windows search. I run msconfig then went to services and disabled it and it works perfectly now. It only affects the start menu search. Glad i got it fixed but still a pretty shitty thing to happen on a month old install of an OS
Razer looks amazing and all, but Razer Synapse (required for Razer products (besides their Xbox controller) to work) can be very unstable. Also, the mechanical switches aren't Cherry MX switches. I'd recommend either the Corsair K70 (Cherry MX Red or Brown) or K95 (Cherry MX Red or Brown). For the mouse, I would personally get either a Logitech G602 or a G502. But that is just my opinion. - - - Updated - - - Why you have two racing wheels (one of which is old) and two gamepads (one of which is cheap and old), I don't understand. Rather than the Xbox One controller, get a 360 one. Works perfectly fine and will probably save you $20+.
Get a G502. I have a G602 and it's very nice, but being wireless it's limited to 2500 DPI and 2ms response time, or 8ms if you want the batteries to last longer than a week.
