Has anyone seen any of the new Microsoft devices yet? It looks like they have done a very good all around job with their stuff. Though it'd be nice to know just what GPU the laptop has. But man, it seems like they have a hot swappable GPU! Also is it possible that DX12 can make BeamNG run slower?
You mean swappable gpu? *Hot* swapping is to remove or change it while the device is running, which is not a thing with GPUs at all (you'll probably kill the card in fact). Also, DX12 will have no effect on BeamNG's performance as long as it stays on DX11 (and I don't really see T3D moving to DX12 any time soon). However, GPUs a few generations from now might not be designed for DX11 and older, just like how Nvidia's 900 series doesn't perform very well with DX9 and older. This isn't a big problem though, a few years from now any mid-range or high-end GPU should have enough raw compute power to run any DX11 title perfectly even with poor legacy support.
Unless it turns the GPU off, it looks hot swappable, which might be why you have to wait a bit before you remove it. (It might turn it off) OK, I was wondering, because I didn't know if DX12 was causing my game to run badly, as I have not had any luck with the new DX11 at all. But then, DX9 doesn't seem to be too much better.
So, good news, just ran CHKDSK on my HDD to see if it'd help anything, and it did find errors, so I went ahead with it while blowing off dust on my PS3 while CHKDSK did it's thing, rebooted back up and everything's back like it was. And just hope it stays that way for a long while until it's actually time for a replacement. EDIT: Stand corrected, ran SFC, and it did find corrupted files, googled and it's said that I can manually replace the corrupted files with a last known good one, but I'm totally lost on how to work commandprompt.
My r9 380 is 60 without reflections and 30 with the reflections. The reflections kill your performance
an other not so computer related question but does anyone know a good ir controlled option for case/room rgb lighting? max 100€ all i saw was utter crap
Cousin wants a new PC. His budget is cca 400€, and I can savlage the HDD, ODD and case from his current build. I was thinking of getting him a 4440, 8GB RAM and a R7 260x or GTX 560ti (because they are cheap and his monitor is only 1024p). He just wants to be able to play NBA 2K16 and Fifa 14. Thoughts?
Well, my upgrade list just got bigger, badder, and about the same price. Instead of a single XFX Core Edition R9-390X and a BenQ XL2730Z monitor, I've extended the list to dual PowerColor PCS+ R9-390's, a Cooler Matser V1000 PSU, and an Acer XG270HU 27" FreeSync 1440p monitor. I'm not compensating for something at all. It's mainly for the GPU based rendering I'm going to be doing for Virtual Design next year (finally learning Blender). A nice side effect is the absolutely insane performance increase over the 7850 1GB and my ASUS VE228. I'm bloody insane, don't you know.
Dell just presented the new XPS 15. Do want. Base model has a quad core i5, and in every case a GTX 960M GPU. It has the infinity display as well... FHD standard and optional UHD.
Indeed, the 13" would be perfect with a quad core CPU and a discrete graphics card. But that would be a challenge to fit it all in the case with a sufficient battery and cooling.
Thanks to the infinity screen, the XPS 15 is the same size as a 14" laptop. So it is a tad smaller. I currently have a Dell Latitude E6230. 12,5". Ideal during classes in lecture theatres. Also packed with a Core i7 M, SSD and 8 GB of memory. Best laptop I've ever had.
Running an older HP sleekbook. Ivy bridge i3@1.8ghz, 6gb RAM, 120gb mSATA SSD (factory was for a 32gb set up as a RAID cache drive, Its not longer in RAID) and a 1tb HDD (actually not the factory one, fucking hitachi travelstar failed on me so it was replaced, same size though). Originally a crappy atheros wireless card, single band and all that jazz, upgraded to dual band 2*2 mimo + bluetooth. Its not powerful. But I do love it regardless, it does what I need it to do, my desktop does the rest.
