Found a guy on Craigslist giving away from free computer stuff, so I promptly sent him an e-mail. I hope that it's Windows XP, Pentium 4 era stuff. It's exactly what I need.

I also hope that it isn't a scam and I don't have to stab anybody to protect my life and whatnot.

So... The NVidia GeForce 2016 Conference happened. Pricing for new NVidia GTX 1070 and 1080 are out:

    Nvidia GTX 1070:
    [US] $379- Normal Edition,
[US] $449- Founders Edition (essentially you get a specially binned GPU and a higher end reference cooler design{?}) [=More overclocking headroom]

    NVidia GTX 1080:
    [US] $599- Normal Edition
    [US] $699- Founders edition

The NVidia GTX 1080 was the main centerpiece of the conference, demos show that the new card is very overclock-able (2.1 GHz Core and 5.5 GHz Memory overclocks on reference cooler- Standard clock speed 1607 MHz base and 1733 MHz boost)

    Release Dates:
    GTX 1080- 27th of May 2016
    GTX 1070- 10th of June 2016

    BOTH
the GTX 1070 and 1080 are more powerful than the NVidia GTX Titan X

The 1080 is "Crushes" 2 GTX 980s in SLI

With the new cards also comes a new reference cooler- The generations old previous reference cooler has been replaced by revised and updated NVTTM Cooling solution.

Both cards are more power efficient for the performance (GTX 1080- 180W TDP, GTX 1070- 150W)

Both GTX 1080 and 1070 are running 16nm FinFET Processing Nodes, 7.2 Billion transistors

The GTX 1070 has 2048 CUDA cores
The GTX 1080 has 2560 CUDA cores

The GTX 1070 produces 6.5 teraflops
The GTX 1080 produces 9 teraflops

The GTX 1070 has 8 GB of GDDR5 VRAM
The GTX 1080 has 8 GB of GDDR5X VRAM

The Pascal line also is "Designed for DirectX 12 and VR Gaming

So there you go, I'll put some links to more info at the bottom- I think I now know what my next purchase will be...
    :D

Seems like AMD is going to get some serious concurrence.

Yup, these are going to be some interesting times for GPUs. My only question is which side to get...

More like just in general. Because if Nvidia is better, I have no idea if there's something better than MSI for a similar price.

Well it depends. Normally an 'aftermarket' cooler (for instance MSI or Asus) would be considered better than the reference cooler for normal applications, but since NVidia has revised the reference cooler with a new design for the GTX 1080/1070 (the cooler that NVidia themselves make), it'll be interesting what the major third party Companies do to their coolers for the new genereation of GPUs, both with NVidia Pascal and AMD Polaris.

That being said MSI do make good coolers; I'm using a Twin Frozr AMD R9 290 currently and it's doing pretty well (Only 95 Degrees... but it is an AMD card, so there you go)

You need to download more RAM!

Though in all seriousness, what do you think about the newest Generation of GPUs?

New GPU generation is starting to come out now, that's good.

It just means I'll be able to get my second R9 380 for nice and cheap.

I really have a strong hatred for windows 10 now.

I did a reset yesterday since the number of problems I was having was becoming a total pain in my ass (search broke, every modern app broke, theme broke) and it all went fine and things reset nicely and I was back up and running in less than an hour.

Then it installed updates. Restarted a couple of times and suddenly I get a "reboot and select proper boot device" error. Windows completely fucked itself with an update on a clean install barely an hour old... Yet thats not even the worst part, I take the SSD out of my PC and put it into my laptop to clone it, everything from my documents, desktop and other main folders are totally gone, literally all thats left are some shitty program files. No idea how on earth that even happened.

So yeah, I lost a ton of important stuff :|

Ctrl+Alt+Delete, then end the process structure. And the Autostart function for GWX.
