I've been having super bad luck with monitors lately. Turns out my last issue (see page 241) was indeed the TV so I nicked the one from the living room (exact same model) and now it's not auto-adjusting to the correct resolution. When I load up a game in full screen it goes to 1360x768 like it should, but when I'm on the desktop or in windowed mode it adjusts to 1440x900. I borrowed my sister's TV (slightly without her knowledge) and, sure enough, it works fine. I'm too broke for a new display (an actual computer monitor would be nice for a change, maybe even a full HD one. Or 4K... *sigh*) so I guess I'll have to live with things being slightly stretched for the time being. The wireless adapter for my Xbox 360 controller also broke, then the right stick on the crap off-brand wired one stopped working while I was away. Maybe I'll hit it big with my graphic novel and be able to just throw money at my problems until they go away :p

It came with Windows 8, and I updated to Windows 10 like a fool. Also the bios is so basic it's shocking.
I don't want to take a chance with a newer OS. It's running so well on Windows 7.

Sooooo, I have installed a few games on this laptop (Minecraft, Garry's Mod, GTA:SA..etc) and they all seem to be running very very slowly, even minecraft on complete low settings is getting 8 fps.
I have the latest drivers installed, as you can see in my Gaming Evolved
    Gaming Evolved.PNG
Before, on Windows 10 I could run these games decently well, and I see no reason why they should have low performance.

I am trying to install 2 x 4gb of RAM to take my computer to 16gb, however windows is not recognising it, and saying I only have 8GB. Any ideas why?
*EDIT* Fixed it by unplugging the computer, leaving it for 10 minuets, and then turning it back on.

Completely random, but I just noticed that 4 out of the 6 (if you count Y) vowels are right next to each other on qwerty keyboards.
    --- Post updated ---
So you rolled back to seven? If so do you have all of windows updates installed? And what service pack is installed?

That goes back to the origins of the qwerty keyboard on typewriters. Letters frequently used together were spaced farther apart to slow down typing so the hammers wouldn't jam. Vowels aren't often next to each other in words so it made sense to put them next to each other. I'm an über nerd :p
(and I actually own a typewriter)

I know the origins of the layout, I just never looked that closely at it. I also own two typewriters, and they sure are fun. ( I probably will upload pictures of them, but I am away from home atm.) Just curious, what typewriter do you have? My main one is a Royal Apollo 10 GT in light blue, it is and electrically assisted mechanical, and a smith corona, all electric, non hammer style, I can't remember the model though.

I actually have two as well, but one is broken and just for decoration. The broken one is a blue 1984 Brother Charger 11 which wasn't great when it worked but my main one is a 1964 Olympia SM-9 which some will say is the best typewriter ever made (ze Germans make good stuff, ja? Well, West Germans according to the label :p). I bought it from the original owner and still have the original carrying case and owners manual.

Well I decided to go through my SSD because it was starting to get pretty low on space. Free'd up about 20gig of space by moving my VM's to my Raid config and deleting a few unused files, then CCleaner managed to free up an extra 4gig. 73GB out of 110 from 40 something.

qwerty to slow type writers down is a myth btw. But here's a fun one. You can write typewriter with only the top row of the keyboard

Well life just took another shit on me, PC just died playing beam, like someone pulled the plug. Power supply is okay, tested the motherboard out of the case on a piece of cardboard, won't power on unless I disconnect the CPU power Connector, then it powers on as normal, fans spin up, lights come on, just no post because obviously no CPU power, I guess my CPU just shorted. Might ask my cousin if I can borrow his i5 2500k to test the mobo, but I'm worried I might fry his chip too.

Okay a bit of good news I hope. I just tested the motherboard by bridging the green wire to ground on the ATX connector with no CPU installed, the PSU still crowbars instead of powering on like it should so I'm certain the motherboard is fried, probably my beefy overclock stressing the VRM's. Got another mobo on its way, same one as before, I'm going to limit my overclock to 4GHz and call it good, going to ask my cousin if I can test my 3570K in his z77 board. I hope my chip hasn't fried.

Upgraded my setup alot in the last week, triple 1080p monitors, monitor arm, desk etc. Really happy with how its came out now. It used to sit on a TV stand while I used a coffee table for the mouse and set the keyboard on my lap, its much less crappy now.

    After

I will miss the CRT for colour accuracy and refresh rate, but I'll be using that in my room with my laptop for watching movies and stuff so its went to good use :p

Looks a lot better and a whole lot more professional than my cluster F of a desk.... Got a core 2 quad and 2 gigs of ram to tide me over until my mobo gets here, and I'll have you know I can run Beam at a whole 20FPS at low and high settings, I think it's my GPU...

I'm a bit of an audiophile . Love my vintage audio equipment, pair of mid 70's Celestion Ditton 15's hooked up to a Yamaha CR-620 stereo receiver.

Well the motherboard came today and I'm glad to say my desktop is up and running again, had a problem with windows not being able to activate but after 4 hours with Microsoft support, they just gave me a new Windows 10 Pro key which was nice of them, guess it goes to show being patient and nice will get you a long way. Just gotta figure out why I have no audio now.

Fixed the audio problem, totally wasn't disabled in the bios by me accidentally when I first set it up...

Oh and the motherboard automatically set the clock speed at 4.2GHz so I'm leaving it at that.

Just a question what would be the ideal graphics card for gta 5 1080p max settings? Because the 750ti is bottlenecking me and i want to play more games at 1080p with max settings and also reach 60fps
