Nope, just try flicking the power switch on and off a couple of times, if the switch ins't making contact this might clean some carbon off the contacts and get it to work again. If all the fuses are fine and this doesn't work then the only thing else I can suggest is a different power cord. --- Post updated --- Oh, actually. Disconnect all the cables from the PSU, and try it. If it still doesn't power up it's 100% the PSU, if it does then you have a dead short somewhere on the planar.
the thing is its a model 50sx. it doesn't have a switch on the psu. The switch goes to the motherboard.
That's odd, I though the switch was part of the PSU. In my PS/2 Model 30 it has a switch on the PSU that is actuated by a lever that's connected to the front panel switch. On the model 70's and 50's that I've seen the switch was attached to the power supply which runs the entire length of the chassis on the right hand side.
So Windows 10 just decided to reboot to install updates just as I got back from going to the toilet... I had stuff open... I don't remember what they were now.
Quad Core... yet 6 core... VMware whatchu doin' Spoiler yes, i know. i only dedicated 4 cores. it's still funny though.
Ran the game with my Asus U31SD... 14 FPS medium settings, Gridmap and stock truck. If I set it to Low or Minimum FPS wouldn't change. Temps during the last run:
Why'd they have to call it that... Also, installed Windows 7 on my old HP Pentium desktop with a GT 430. Luckily the original OEM product key worked.
Not finding any good "T420"s with Nvidia graphics within my price range... I'll keep checking though.
Well... What do you want to do with it? If you want to game I'd recommend a Core i5-6600k, 16gb ram, and a GTX 1070. If you want to stream, I'd say a Core i7-6700k, 32gb ram, and a GTX 1080. If you need a workstation, a Xeon and a Quadro. If you want a super budget build: Core i3-6100, 8gb ram, and an RX 480. If you just need a web browsing PC, Pentium G4400, 8gb ram, and an RX 460 (to have a little extra horsepower). It's all based upon what you want to do with it.
I have to say that the 6600k is a really good gaming cpu from my testing it can perform pretty similar to a 6700k in beamng and gta 5
A while ago I found a dead fly in my pcs radiator. In have no clue how it didn't get sucked out by the fan.
I may have found a suitable T420! Unfortunately: There's no power supply provided. It has an American keyboard. The seller has sold two "T420"s using the same images before, so I'm not sure if the information is correct or what the condition is like. Fortunately: I can get a replacement power supply. Keyboards are easy enough to swap. Hmm...
Don't forget you'll have to pay 20% of the items value as import tax to the government. If you're buying it from the US of course which I assume you are given the US keyboard.
Nope, UK seller. Strange isn't it? They've also sold an X220 with an American keyboard. Not sure whether to ask for more information... That one just sold and they've relisted another one exactly the same with the same images.
They must import them from America cheap and sell them here for a bit more or something, I've been thinking about selling my E420s in favor of a T520 which is basicaly a 15" version of the T420 hence the 5. I'm fairly certain you can swap a W520 planar into them which has the more powerful Nvidia Quadro chipset. Plust the I5 2410m in my E420s is severely lack luster, it maxes out before the GPU does. Plus it's been a while since I built a FrankenPad.
That board swap could be possible if you had more parts: Link A W520 would be out of my price range though. (I'm going for ~£150) I'm mostly looking at i5-2520m and higher models. I still check some lower end CPU models to see if they have Nvidia graphics, since I'm not afraid to swap processors. I missed out on an i7 model T420 with Nvidia graphics because I was debating too much.
