Honestly if you're not planning any games from 2012 and above the HD3000 will probably be fine, you could upgrade to the Nvidia Chipset later. I'd also suggest getting a Msata SSD, very fast only downside is you lose the WWAN card so you wouldn't be able to use sim card with 3g internet, just the normal WLAN (wireless) card, hardly a terrible sacrifice though.
If I can get an Nvidia one cheap enough to begin with, I figure why not just do that in the first place? While a SSD would be nice, I think a regular hard drive would serve me just fine. EDIT: I bought a 4337 dock that comes with a 90W charger. I have no real need for the dock, I just wanted one. The charger would come in handy if I bought a ThinkPad with no charger.
I get a kick out of how much you guys love these adding machines that pre date my entire bloodline. I know a woman with an apple 2 who still uses it for work. Why? "It hasn't broken yet". When your apple 2 stores a million words in its storage I guess your good.
I was using a 2007 macbook pro until recently and i do plan to *very ambitiously* resurrect it. Custom made "motherboard" and all.
I was using a pc from 2006 for gaming until recently im planning on using it as a office machine and for skype and so on
awww yesssss. my new laptop came today! i got it for 20 usd including shipping. took a risk as it didnt have powerbrick and was untested. lucky me i already have a powerbrick for it. And it worked! I can play tetris on it too.
Shall I go for an AMD A10 laptop, or buy an i5? I'm looking for a laptop for general use with occasional (light) gaming if I go on holiday or for LAN parties... I have a budget of around £330-£370 and I'm planning to buy one from ebuyer, they're very cheap there and I've used them before for monitors etc. If I go for an A10, it'd probably be something like a HP ProBook or a similar other brand laptop. http://www.ebuyer.com/752484-hp-probook-455-g3-laptop-x0p69es-abu I'm not sure how an i5 would perform, but I'd probably get this one as it's skylake http://www.ebuyer.com/749384-hp-250-g4-laptop-t6n58ea-abu On an unrelated note, who knew that there was AMD-FX laptop processors? http://www.ebuyer.com/755113-lenovo-ideapad-z50-75-laptop-80ec00mfuk
Don't touch current gen AMD. Just trust me, they're as hot as the sun and slow as government bureaucracy. The i5 would be better, even if it's a low end laptop recent i5, it'd still beat the A10 plus kick out less heat and drain less power.
Yeah, my AMD crap top even had sh*t battery life when it was new, and it was even terrible on the original OS. I can barely get by on Windows 7 today, plus it's turned off just from heat after I have like 3 chrome tabs open before. The i5s are a little more expensive but I'll probably go with one of them since it'll probably last for quite a while, I mean I have a 2st gen i3 desktop and it runs Windows 10 just fine
I had a Pentium laptop with a 16mb integrated video card, 2gb ram, and a pentium@1.4ghz. It ran Windows 7 and 10 perfectly fine.
Do tell... how did you do this? Win2000 isn't exact the paragon of robust and stable operating systems, but it's not THAT bad... is it?
Well, I disabled the default display adapter. This is supposed to force VirtualBox to run an emulated full VGA card, allowing 32-bit color in VMs. Win2k didn't really like that and now blue screens at startup. I can't read the error message because it does an immediate restart and just continues in that loop.
Today my keyboard just wouldnt do anything so i checked the batterys they were fine so i checked the bluetooth reciever that was fine because my mouse would work so i think my keyboard is dead. What would be a good mechanical one? I found one for 38€ but i dont know if its any good or not
