it gets cooler. second pic is a closeup. I got it for 10 dollars too. No hdd or ram, but i had both. Im also trying to get my thinkpad 600 up and running with windows 2000. also i have posted this before, but i like to show off my "collection" these are just my thinkpads, i have so many more laptops.
The iGPU is better than an 8400 GS. The only purpose of the 8400 GS these days is to drive more monitors.
Would a 1050Ti and i3-6100 combo at least run beamNG.drive at high settings? If not, what's a good rig in the sub 550 range? I play .drive, CSGO, rocket league, and wreckfest, among others.
There is no such thing as a 1050Ti. Only card around the price and performance range where the 1050/1050Ti "would" be is the RX 470, or older/used cards. Anything higher is the GTX 1060/RX 480 territory. As for that CPU it should do quite well to run BeamNG however you're going to have quite a bit of trouble past 2 vehicles as its only a dual core. The dual core also means a hit on performance in general multitasking use but not too bad overall and still miles better that your current APU either way. Considering the price I would recommend you go for an RX 470 and try to get at least 8GB of RAM (BeamNG really likes RAM). Overall a pretty solid build though and should be able to run BeamNG on high with little issue and will do just fine at high settings 1080p in most modern games.
The GTX 1050 Ti is rumoured to be coming out soon, and I know personally that @BombBoy4 is buying this setup next year, so it will definitely be released by then.
Would an overclocked Pentium G3258 do as good as the i3-6100? I've heard it can outperform an i5, but some websites contradict each other. FYI: I don't care about how many cars I can run, I just want to crash 2 of them into each other.
Well crap. kinda. not really. I have too much stuff. ANYWAYS, i just got 3 more thinkpads. i got two 600e and a r60. The r60 i put my ssd in(only working sata 2.5 inch not in use) upgraded to 2gb of ram. It also has a t7200(or t7250, ,cant remeber). Putting windows 7 on it, but if i upgrade to more ram, i may put windows 10 on it. It came without a battery but i had a practiclly new one(it was in my ghetto thinkpad. 14 inch screen in a 15 inch model duct taped in, no screws holding it together just duct tape. sadly i dont have it anymore) My thinkpad army is growing
Alright. My PC keeps blue screening after freezing continuously. We thought it might have been a Steam update causing it to crash. We aren't sure at all though because we don't even have enough time to check what it is before it freezes and crashes. And stupid Windows is too user friendly to provide something like an error code anyway, so that's why I'm asking you guys now.
Alright, thanks. I'll run that program, since today it has supposedly fixed itself (for the moment) making me look like a liar. I'm telling you, the new Windows update is evil.
Shall I buy a T420 or T430? I've used a T430 before but not a T420, so I would be a little more comfortable with the T430 since I've experienced how the performance and build quality aesthetics etc.
The T430 has a 3rd gen Intel CPU and the T420 has a 2nd gen Intel. Build quality is pretty much identical but I'd go with the T430 for the modern CPU and chipset.
I only went for a T420 because of the keyboard. Well, that and the price. But mostly the keyboard. I love that blue enter key.
It did for some time at least. I'll have to see... --- Post updated --- Just take a T430 and replace the enter key with a blue one?
Yes, you can fit a xx20 keyboard in a xx30, but the buttons won't be mapped properly. http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Install_Classic_Keyboard_on_xx30_Series_ThinkPads It's not worth doing in my opinion.
Ah, that's pretty understandable. Alot of work for what it is. Also had some money and decided to grab a motherboard on ebay, the one I have now works but it can't overclock at all and has issues with booting up with an unlocked clock speed (takes 3 attempts at starting before it actually does) I found a new "ASRock Fatal1ty 970 Performance" motherboard on ebay for pretty cheap and went ahead with that. I may finally be able to push the Nepton 240M water cooler that has been running at like 20c on stock clocks for the last year Will match my current colour scheme of black pretty well...
I tried keeping it nice and black all the time. There's also red in there because of the GPU, but whatevs. I don't have a window in the case anyway.
