Nadeox has ziptied his GPU to the hard drive cage/optical drive cage What about the PSU? Make and model? if its in warranty and a decent model you should RMA it What GPU is that, that seems like an old ASUS Strix design (is it Direct CU 1 or something) since there is only one big fat heatpipe, compared to the modern ones which have multiple "skinny" heatpipes --- Post updated --- GTX 760 is fine, dont expect max settings, and you will have to go easy on the dynamic reflections to keep 60fps --- Post updated --- GTX 760 is fine, dont expect max settings, and you will have to go easy on the dynamic reflections. The graphics arent bad though, Notebook check says its about a GT730 from Nvidia, capable of many games at low settings at 1280x800. The CPU doesnt seem that bad, Notebook Check also says its around about a 2nd gen intel core i3. Thats not too bad, better than an Intel Core 2 Duo, which is still a perfectly good CPU (minus the efficiency) that A10 would beat an Atom though Does that ASUS get noisy under load, since i dont know much about ASUS laptop cooling solutions.
I don't really play on max settings, but when i get this CPU ill buy a SSD next then probably a water cooler to overclock the 4460. I just need something new because my current Q8200 is quite often blue screening and ik its not a HDD issue.
Oh, I could not spot ziptie at all, it is so nicely installed and my eyes are not the best Seasonic S-12 460W fanless 80 Plus Platinum PSU it says, they are designed to work without the fan, so factory don't install fans, but little help with fan is always a good idea.
I'll continue posting images of your PC! My setup until I can afford a desk/monitor/chair. The important stuff (left) and the non-important stuff (right) There is so much space, which is weird because this a MATX case and MoBo. But whatever, better cable management
Random question: Is there anyone apart from me still needing and using an optical drive? I always hear everyone saying they have become unnecessary
Just ordered a Chromecast audio, hope it will be worth it. There's always that 15-day return period, though.
I use it to put music on CD, so yeah I do use it but not very much. At this point in time, I have no reason for it to be in my computer, but I have no reason for it to be out my computer. It's kinda 50/50 and it saves hassle for in the future for when I will inevitably have to use it at a short notice.
yeah, i guess your right, i stick to Ratio tuning since i have an i5 4690k, a non K cpu isnt that bad though, and you could just use throttlestop to keep it pegged at the maximum turbo boost frequency at all times.
I decided ordered a USB power monitor to test out my USB power supplies, I had to plug both my phone (1.5A) and tablet (1A) in to the unit in order to create a big enough load. I am genuinely a little surprised and very happy with the results, both my charger and battery bank hit within margin of error what they claim and keep the voltages reasonable while doing so. The battery bank manages to push out 0.1A more on a single port than it was rated for without dipping the voltage too badly, I would need more monitors to do a full test though since it is supposedly capable of more than 5A output when using multiple ports. 3 of the ports provided the full output while the 4th was much weaker only doing 1A at 4.5v (rated for 0.5A). The wall charger really nailed it too. I also decided to test out the lettering on the box that states which ports are rated at what current, a little surprisingly they will all provide the full 2.4A output on a single port. Maybe at full load it prioritises them in a certain order hence the markings? My monitors and desktop were all less impressive, almost entirely running the output at 1.3A with the voltage being between 4.5v and 4.7v including the red "high power" USB ports on my motherboard. Special mention for the front USB ports on my computer which are absolute trash, struggling to do 1A at 4.5v. Surprisingly the best output on my computer was the £9 PCI USB 3.0 internal hub. The poundland battery bank also did ok too, around 1.3A while struggling with the voltage a little at around 4.5v. But it was £1, so fairly impressive for the money. I am tempted to do a full charge and drain on it to test its mah capacity to see if it is close to the rated value. Its also worth adding that there is more to a power supply than its volts and amps output. But I don't have any intention of spending the money required to test that sort of thing
