Im now disconnecting the graphics cards and the processor wasnt over clocked. Also id be interrested in seeing that slot.
So i now disconnected everything exept the ssd the mainboard and cpu and the power supply and still nothing
Looks like corrosion from liquid, try cleaning the slot with some isopropyl or contact cleaner. Have you disconnected the USB headers and front panel I/O connectors?
The usb headers were never connected the same for the front panel I/O connectors because my case doesnt have a space for that at the front
Well looks like I am going to have to go and buy some :/ It has been like this since the 1st of the year and is still in the same condition I know what happened is the older gt 720 (yes a gt not a gtx) had a failure near the bottom of the entire card right where the slot is damaged I know right after that happened (and I put the 950 in whilst being a dunce) the gtx 950 never reached 100% its TDP, now it does though. Point is: how would it be corrosion if the gt 720 caused this? I don't understand technology well enough yet
I'm sorry to say but you could be looking at a failed motherboard or Processor, have you got any other power supplies you can use for testing? Try removing both sticks of RAM. --- Post updated --- I could be wrong. It just looks like something spilled on the board and the pins look like they've corroded.
Well unless the pin's are physically damaged I.E Bent or missing I think cleaning the slot might restore it to full working order. Might be time to get in contact with MSI about RMA'ing your board, with any luck it's just your board and not your Processor. Have you tried powering it up without the RAM installed?
Try and borrow a power supply or buy a cheap one for testing. I wouldn't rule out the power supply as a factor either just yet.
I will clean the slot somehow and hope it works to its full capability when I do clean it The only small issue is that it runs @ x8 not x16 and it sometimes shifts over to x1 or x2 I forget exactly which one or if both of those are even possible
So i asked a friend of mine to give me a powersupply from him because he said he had a spare one hopefully its only the power supply and not the mainboard or something like that
Could I run a 1050ti off of a 240w PSU? I know it says that the recommended is 300w, but often those aren't true. One of my friends wants to make a gaming PC on a £250 budget, and these ex-business HP's seem to be going for quite cheap with decent CPUs. I took a look on the HP website, and it says that the PSU is 240w. But, what I have seen on YouTube, this whole PC is designed to be tool-less, so it has a non-standard PSU size. They are small-form-factor but the MSI 1050ti low profile will likely fit just fine with the other bracket which is included.
Don't forget you have to factor in the power of the motherboard, Processor and drives. You'd be pushing that PSU pretty hard.
With a high quality 240w PSU, its feasible that it could, but you would be stretching it far more than you ever should be. With the power supply that is actually in one of those, I would keep a fire extinguisher at the ready, and that is before inserting a 1050ti
