I could do that but most of the time when i do stuff like this i cant wait to play pc again so i just bunch in those cables so that i can play again EDIT: Im currently looking for a os for my raspeberry with very similar operating menus and so on like windows but win 10 for the raspberry doesnt seem to be good are there any alternatives? Sorry if it sounds stupid as i normally dont have much to do with linux and so on
IDK if I should post this here, but I just bought a Razer Blackwidow Chroma V2. It is SO awesome to have a proper mechanical keyboard.
Finally got around to reinstalling windows on my main computer. It was playing up a bit, all of the explorer shell additions causes it to crash on startup, so it stops, i wait for it to time out, then it reopens windows explorer and starts again. Boot times around about a minute because of this, so im reducing it with this reinstall. Also the little cable for my external hard-drive is probably dead because the baby decided to jam a biscuit into the USB end, so you can't plug it into a computer anymore. I will try to dislodge the biscuit crumb but it might not work --- Post updated --- *sobs a little* It's only a virtual machine
windows for pi isnt windows at all, ignore the name and forget relationship entirely. Really raspbian is only chance on a pi, so you'd better get learning
thanks for the info gonna do that then also i was asking it because i used the pi for retro games but since i now have the SNES mini i dont need 2 things for retro games so i can now use the raspberry as a download hub also does team viewer work on raspbian?
205 keys of Linux goodness. (The keys in red are magic sysrq keys - very dangerous - and will be much harder to press.)
The old label of my Model M was pretty beat up, so I decided to create a new one. It turned out pretty well.
Speaking of IBM, if anyone here is interested in vintage IBM computing, there's a fantastic YouTube channel called moshix which has loads of cool mainframe videos. He just uploaded one on how to set up an IBM System/370 emulator on Linux. Check it out... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCR1ajTWGiUtiAv8X-hpBY7w
My computer has been acting strange lately. There's been a couple of things happening, and I have no idea what's going on. Spoiler: .... 1. Sometimes the computer freezes up. There was times where it acted like it was trying to unfreeze, for example the mouse starts moving again, but it just went straight back. It happened to me just today for about what I think was 10 minutes. I was hoping I'd regain control, but it didn't happen, so I was forced to press the button to forcefully restart it. I don't think it happens all the time. I can't recall when it happened previously, other than it did happen this month. 2. My internet connection just dies randomly. I assume it's because of Ajit Pai getting rid of Net Neutrality, as it never happened before the 14th of December, and whenever I lost internet connection before the 14th, it was because of something to do with the provider. With this issue however, I can disconnect from the Wi-Fi and reconnect to regain it, while other times the problem sometimes fixes itself. January felt like a particularly bad month for this. I still think Net Neutrality's removal has to do with it, because it would explain why I never had this problem beforehand. 3. Turning the computer on can be different. Sometimes it starts up normally, other times not so much. Sometimes it will get stuck on a screen and it will not do anything, so I'd have to press the button. When I do this, sometimes it will say something along the lines of "the username/password is incorrect" when the login screen comes up, and the background will be one I'm currently not using. The background for the login screen I'm using ATM is a tropical one, while when this issue happens it switches over to a mountain themed one that I used previously. After turning the computer off and turning it on the next day, it usually goes back to the tropical one. A dodgy startup also happened to me today as well, while yesterday it started up just fine. Should I start doing a tally to keep track of whenever these things take place?
I have the same problem with the internet.. It used to stay connected 24/7 but now even with ethernet it disconnects when it feels like it. Verizon DSL is my carrier, and Asshat Pai worked at Verizon for a while so...
In other news, జ్ఞ ా I know this is kinda offtopic, but when do we get our dear General Discussion thread back?
I made a conversation with Nadeox1 asking this, but he hasn't replied. Usually he's really good at responding. Also, is nobody going to provide me input on the situation I mentioned on the previous page?
@MisterKenneth this is what I would try. -Online virus scan -memtest86 -SSD/HDD test -test with other PSU Internet failing could be anything, bad router would be good choice. My computer has been solid after last bios update, no more shutdowns at idle after heavy load. --- Post updated --- Oh, I took GPU off from computer now, what I need to do I can do with iGPU for a while and less distractions...
Last night I noticed that my internet is working a lot better than before: Steady 6MB/s from steam now (doubled from before), pretty nice for a mobile internet, also ping dropped to 12ms and I get 25Mbytes/s upload too. 23GB took about an hour to download: I can't remember having disconnects with this internet for at least 6 months, wish it stays like this now. I could upgrade this to bit faster, but I think this is much faster than I really need.
Fixed my parents' HP Pavillion P6720F. Needed a new hard drive, i upgraded from 1 TB to 2 TB. I replaced the noisy CPU fan and re-applied the thermal paste. I installed Windows 10 and got everything up and running. I feel accomplished.
I don't know really what they did to my internet, but some upgrades I guess, kinda nice for today's file sizes, I mean Final Fantasy XV is 100GB download and Just Cause 3 that is on sale is 46GB. All three Just cause games + some DLC was bit under 17 euros now, kinda good amount of entertainment for the money. Final Fantasy XV is surely pretty and all, but my computer barely runs it on lowest details, had to lower resolution in demo to keep it at 60fps and still it drops during the fights, also it is kinda hard to see anything in fast paced action, so definitely not going to spend that much on it, driving physics are also very poor, even when taken account driving is minor part in it. However as files are getting bigger and bigger, it is good that they improve internet speeds here. During daytime my internet is bit slower it seems, 3.5 - 4MB/s, so that is downside of mobile internet, but it is up from 2-3MB/s still. Night time is a big improvement though.
So work has slated me to build a machine for our new salesman. It's so weird, the only machines I've built are for our CAD designers, so this is so different. It does not compute for me to build a system without a dGPU or a high amount of ram/cores. I don't really touch a desktop without a dGPU, even if it's a complete paperweight like an HD5450. It'll literally be an AM4 APU (and not even a Ryzen one) with like 8 gigs of ram for all the PDFs and such he'll have to look at, and that's it.
