I hit a raccoon about as large as a medium-sized dog. In the dark, raining, narrow curvy 2-lane road with oncoming traffic. Didn't see it till I was right on top of it because of the Crown Vic's god-awful headlights. I mean, I ran right over it too. Both right wheels. I couldn't do anything. I got dashcam video of it but I'm too lazy to edit.
I threw the Sonoma sideways again today... On an interstate on-ramp... at 45 MPH... In the rain, fully drifted. I'm still screaming.
The weather here in Alabama was crazy today. 60mph+ winds, flash flood, the whole deal. My car was parked outside my school on one of the lower lots and the water got a good ~3 inches high apparently, and the wind was enough to blow my wipers up a bit. Driving up and down Alabama hills was also crazy. Old-ish tires and lots of rain, it was near impossible to get out of steep roads without spinning out.
I edited the video. No audio because it kept getting misaligned and I can't be bothered to make it work. Critique me. It doesn't really capture the intensity of it, especially without audio. It was like hitting a speed bump. Also what the camera sees is pretty much what I saw. The headlights on the crown vic suck ass, it was dark and rainy, and I was blinded by the oncoming cars' lights. I was bitched at afterwards for getting close to the 2 oncoming cars. Yeah I really shouldn't have swerved, but I didn't notice it until it was almost under the car and I didn't know what the hell it was until after I had hit it. I wasn't just blindly yanking the wheel around either. I only used the space I had available. tl;dr: accused of almost killing everyone, I think I had control of the situation.
The thing looked dead before you hit it. I would have swerved the other way, if at all, letting the raccoon go underneath, but that just looks better on the camera, idk if it really would have been. The only thing I think is very important is to stay calm/dont get a fright in any emergency situation (easier said than done for some people) like when my sister hit a bird on the freeway, she didnt see it, but yanked a bit on the steering wheel after it happened. She put (unjustifiable) input into the vehicle without knowing why-just dont do that imo. I have done worse than you before, like driving without brakes on a public road
It was dead before I hit it. It was just so damn big though. The camera (once again) doesn't do it justice. It had to be close to the size of my dog. I agree straddling it would have been better, but I was too far to the left to do that safely. Would have been too easy to dip a tire off the side of the road or lose control and slide down into the ditch. I know for a fact it wouldn't have fit under the car though. The best thing to do would have been to just hit it. I'm usually pretty good with stuff like this. I just got caught completely off guard. No one died. Live and learn I guess.
I uploaded my wip music assignment, it needs work and it has a few queer notes, but for a FIRST time, its not bad. https://soundcloud.com/josh-morgan-whippy/song-beta-1
I just broke the metal piece on my backspace key :| (you know, that little metal bit that holds it in place. It's on the spacebar etc. aswell) The key still works, but it feels a little different now because of it.
I wanna get an aluminum space bar for my DemonKing. Possibly some new WASD keys too. And finding one for a Cherry styled switch is going to be impossible.
That moment when you fall asleep for 10 minutes during a geography lesson :| At least the teacher was nice about it and told me not to do it again. I also didn't miss anything important, so that's good.
I never felt assleep in school yet.. Nah only 9th class. Maybe it will come in the near future to me too ok lol i´m in school right now on those crappy "computers"
