I don't really have any problems on my side, but I see why you guys would have problems.

Dummies, you know I don't dislike you, but ease up on the salt. Windows 10 is a well-functioning, good looking, modern OS. There are no style conflicts if you bother to set your own theme (and don't use old programs that use an XP theme) and nearly everything can be changed with a puddle fiddling.

I use Debian 7.6 on my webserver/TS server/irc bouncer, server etc
It's easy and there is tons of support. But use whatever you want. Just don't install an X server.

I think I'll go with Debian, since I'm already familiar with APT and other Debian tools (been using Ubuntu, had used Debian a bit before). Thanks.

    I am currently looking at:
    https://kororaproject.org/ (probably using kde)
    https://solus-project.com/
    http://www.kubuntu.org/

Since my system is fairly powerful and it will eventually be booting from an ssd I don't really need it to be lightweight. Preferably something out of the box, with codec support that has a nice GUI. Then I will probably go from there.

Solus is pretty new though so I am slightly worried about bugs and app support since it uses a custom desktop manager. But korora looks like a pretty decent option since fedora is well supported and so is kde. My only real concern about kubuntu is that I have been struggling to find out much about it. But I will see what it is like when I run it from a live USB.

    Question:
When I install onto the new ssd is it possible for me to use the bios to select which drive I want to boot from or is a boot manager recommended?

kubuntu is just Ubuntu with kde rather than unity. Probably a bit nicer these days, may load up a vm for it myself

So far so good. Installed korora on a usb stick.
Managed to get it to boot after the second installation, the first failed. Attempted to use the built in proprietary driver manager to switch to nvidia drivers since the default ones struggle to do the desktop across my two screens. Application died the first time, seemed to work the second time. But after waiting a while after it disappeared nothing happened. So i presumed a reboot is needed. Now Plasma gives out 5 error messages on bootup leaving me with a black screen and firefox open (since i didn't close it) and the full screen terminal via ctrl+alt f2.

In less than 1 hour i have already completely shat it up...

I played TDU2 once. It wasn't that good. Midnight Club II FTW.

Also Nascar Legends. I played that game so much when I was little. (Nascar game from 1999, set in the 70s.)
