So, things happening with Spintires... http://www.pcgamer.com/spintires-removed-from-steam-amid-allegations-of-developer-sabotage/ http://www.oovee.co.uk/forum/topic/...ug-issue-and-sabotage-allegations/#entry93224 Sad to see this. Spintires is a game with so much potential, but on the hands of the wrong people.
Ok, the Rock Paper Shotgun report is even more juicy! It has claims from the dev in question. https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2016/03/03/spintires-steam/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+rockpapershotgun/steam+(Rock,+Paper,+Shotgun:+Steam+RSS) EDIT: Here is a link to the Reddit thread containing a fix, for all Spintires users. https://www.reddit.com/r/Spintires/comments/47m5ju/psa_timebomb_present_in_spintiresexe_community/ --- Post updated --- Sorry for the double post, but now I am really confused by what is going on with Oovee (from their forums) latest update for you guys Pavel has been doing a lot of work in the last day and we are now (in the last few minutes) testing a further fix for this issue Further news on this later in the day Patience please as we hope we are nearly there http://www.oovee.co.uk/forum/topic/12549-recent-game-crashes/page-21
That's what happens when publisher and developer argue about money. It is extremely sad, it was such a cool game. I've heard there's an unofficial patch on the SpinTires forums somewhere, but I haven't looked into it myself.
There is an important lesson to be learned here. When a video game becomes successful, you need to treat the people making it with more regard than just employees. If you sell half a million copies and continue paying team members be it a programmer or an artist just his hourly rate guess than they will realize everything they are fighting for is a lie. If I was in charge of a game taking off past the half million copies sold, the bonuses would be bigger than most people's salaries. That's how you keep the people who make you tons of money happy. Pay them tons of money. Good for him if he really nuked his own game screw them and everyone else.
OK, it is now looking like the reports of foul play are all false. http://www.oovee.co.uk/forum/topic/12604-official-statement-re-bug-issue-and-sabotage-allegations/ Fair play to you Oovee PLEASE let us get this sorted and then we will let you know what happened, till then ignore these stories. This also applies to sightings of aliens, Elvis and who killed JFK........
The truth is likely somewhere in between of what everyone is saying. Since the publisher obviously doesn't want this to be a big deal for the sake of consumer confidence. But press want this to be a big deal in order to get hits.
And it looks like it is over. http://www.oovee.co.uk/forum/topic/12613-dev03032015-released-update-discussion/#entry93346
anyone happen to know of a way to download and play any of the older versions of beamng? (like, pre-steam, such as the original alpha from when it first came out in august)
I have the original techdemo on my mediafire account: http://www.mediafire.com/download/9yx3cnugnpe1u7j/BeamNG+Techdemo+v1.zip
Decided to pull the amp board out of this stereo receiver to do a bit of troubleshooting, it'll make replacing the capacitors much easier too.
Eh, its about 41 years old, whadda ya expect? Lol, I just gave it a bath in some 99.9% pure Isopropanol and cleaned up the switches and potentiometers with some good ol contact cleaner, can't have the controls sounding all scratchy now can we. For those interested it's a Technics SA-5150 stereo receiver from about 1975 give or take a year. Did a quick mock up test, still a volt of DC offset in the left channel, not good, not good at all, starting to think it could be one of the power amplifier IC modules, which are hard to find and expensive.
