Dang. I have 4 gb of Ram (3.25 usable) but I can't run HR, JRI, ECUSA, or DRI, and haven't even tried Utah. And considering that your usage is usually 3.2 gb, I should be able to run most maps, right? What am I doing wrong? I'm extremely confused how memory usage works in this game...
Yeah, but Windows only uses .75 gb for me, and I was just curious that 6677 was running Beam using only 3.2 gb when I crash every now and then, even though I have about the same amount usable.
I haven't had any issues with the update, but Potato keeps bitching about his framerate.. He has the HD 6550D in his APU.
It's random performance. My 280x was getting 40fps on low settings until yesterday, now I can't get 50-60 on max. No idea why. People with 970s and at least one 980ti are seeing low fps too.
Possibly RAM. My game runs at about 40FPS on medium settings but when I hit a RAM bottleneck (from say doing literally anything other than JUST running BeamNG on its own) I drop all the way down to 18FPS. The effects on a very RAM dependant APU are probably 10 times worse.
So it turns out that I have a 1986 IBM XT 286. Or, at least, so I thought. Upon further investigation, this thing is modified to the teeth. It has a VGA video card (from 1988), with Oak Technologies processing chips (and some odd AMD chip, amoung others). It features a, what I would assume to be, refurb PSU, and a 3.5" floppy. But here's the best part, it's still Intel based, just not a 286. It has a Biostar Socket 7 mobo which features a WD Caviar 2200 hard drive, an undisclosed amount of GoldStar ram (I know, GoldStar made ram when they weren't making 3DO's), and a 166MHz Pentium. I'm super excited, what a sleeper this is. This with some ram and a Voodoo 1 will be hella fun, all wrapped up in a vintage IBM chassis. Repeating from what I threw in the Discord chat, I'm in hog heaven right now. I'm geeking out over this thing so much. Now, it's completely and utterly worthless, but that's okay, I guess (actually that VGA card could be worth something).
just for anyone with poor performance. For me the game boots up in Borderless Full Screen windowed and the performance like that is terrible. If I then use Alt+ Enter to put it into true full screen the game then starts to run way better. Something odd that I have just noticed. While Task manager reports that the game is using 2.5GB of RAM, when I go into resource monitor the game is actually using 5.1GB of RAM. While I would expect the Commit value to be higher I didn't expect it to be that much higher. Which is why Windows states that overall I am using 7GB of ram when task manager processes only add up to about 4GB.
