Now you know how the rest of the world feels when the US forces its bs on everyone else. Equally capitalism seems to be pretty popular with the powers that be. As for why Ford is pushing it, profit margins probably play a significant role. But also it means that you can now enjoy Fords more sporty "rest of the world" variants. Plus it means that the rest of the world now gets the Mustang which was import only previously (in many countries) which from what I have seen is also a really nice vehicle.
It is solely profit margins. I wouldn't mind that at all. I'd welcome it, really. I like some of their EDM cars. It's just that they're getting rid of their "american" cars and replacing them with these "rest of the world" variants. Crown Victoria, Econoline. You could argue that the Mustang's solid rear axle is also in that list, but I'm not too bothered by that. Same with the explorer's V8 and Full frame. Because it's one of the few Body-on-frame, V8, RWD, solid rear axle vehicles left that isn't a large truck. They're disappearing. Like I said, I don't really mind the Transit itself, but the worst thing about it, by far, is that stupid fucking shifter. I hate those things with a burning passion. Why does everyone hate column shifts so much now?
How so? I figured it was just cause they're old and outdated. People think they're for old pickup trucks. I can't find anything about column shifts being inherently unsafe, just new weird column shifts with strange gear patterns confusing people.
A couple days ago I derped and put frozen fruit in the bin ,it had been unfrozen & refrozen many times since freezer doors are a struggle for many undergrad students and was no longer good. Needless to say, the bin was not smelling all that fruity today.
Well I almost killed myself at work today. Chopping up some rotten wood in preparation for discard, when the whole plank shatters and explodes. Literally EXPLODES. It's k, whether you like it or not I'm still alive, obviously.
The essential worry from some is how easily a shifter can be knocked when its behind the wheel (I think this is bullshit). But more importantly, the linkages make a steering column more complex and can add some engineering considerations In the case of the transit though, the reason for that is because in the rest of the world the transit is stick shift not auto. That auto shifter is just a retrofit into the gap from the old stick. --- Post updated --- involving? Not involving at all, just slip it up to drive and done, hideously uninvolving. Heck, least involving way to drive possible.
A little late, but R.I.P. Gordie Howe, who was quite possibly the best all-around hockey player in history.
