They better not remove the start screen... I have embraced it wholeheartedly.

Even as far back as windows XP I barely even touched the start menu. Windows 8 provided me to dump that crap entirely, seriously, I havent missed the start menu at all since getting windows 8.

What about the metro do you like so much? It's inefficient as hell. It was a usable at best, but I'd be happy to never have to use it again. I've had classic shell installed for months now. The metro UI is just too inefficient for me. I am a power user and the classic start menu suits me well. If they can keep the classic start menu/live tiles like that have in the picture above then find a way to keep the metro UI out of the way for power users, then fine. But I don't want that darned metro UI in my face all the time.

It's not Windows 9. It's called 8.1 Update 1 and it's coming out at some point this year.
And they're not removing the start screen, just adding a start menu so that sevenfags will stop complaining and upgrade at last.

Well, it looks good. But it is extremely inefficient in a desktop PC.
Microsoft just fucked up with Windows 8 because they thought they could merge a PC system with a tablet system. The idea of having a full desktop on a tablet is good. Having a tablet menu on a desktop is not.

Meh. I've had Windows 8 since 2012 and 8.1 since a couple months ago. I don't mind the lack of the start menu very much, but I would prefer to have it. (One of the reasons I use only 7 and XP on my laptops/netbooks.)

8.1 update 1 came out months ago....

As for using the start screen over start menu (not aimed at Bluescreen specifically), I never said I did, I said I never used the start menu, I only use email from metro. Its possible to live on the desktop with a faster windows and ignore the start menu and start screen.

for me it's actually far faster and efficient then the start menu, bigger buttons resulting in virtually NO miss-clicks, charm bar search is ridiculously fast (unlike the 7 search which even on a very fast pc was always a bit slow). after using the 8 start screen, i now refuse to use the start menu (heck, on my siblings pc i will literally just find the software i want via windows explorer just to not use the old start menu)

opinions are opinions, i've stated mine, and it will not be changing any time soon in the future

You sound extremely picky, I just adapt to the computer I'm using without complaining, it's not hard at all.

Hold Ctrl and spin scroll wheel to resize desktop icons. No miss clicks that way either.

Yes you are right that the charm bar search is faster, but it won't find everything you are looking for.

Oh, I guess I haven't used it in a while. Before I couldn't find anything I was looking for.

Well, it looks like there's a transmission still bolted to it, so, yes, it does.

Is it bad that I only go on the BNG steam page to see what n00bs are saying and to dislike screenshots of low-quality mods?
