Still, that's a stupid thing to do.

Maybe (If it's got an Intel CPU) use Throttlestop to force the CPU to max speed and voltage so it can't throttle then disable the fan :D

Alright just to clear it up, as dalek has told me that he thought I was actually being serious about this, I'm not.
My laptop was getting really hot and I needed to cool it down, so I'm doing so, and laughing to myself about how incredibly inefficient of a cooling system this is.
Well, it cools really well, but you have to get up and refreeze the cloth every 10 minutes or so.
I'm just really bored, so I'm doing this.

It's not gonna mess it up. Its just a damp cloth thats been frozen. It's not like its soaking the computer in water when it melts.

Computer reached nearly scalding temperatures again so I fetched a freshly frozen cloth from the freezer.
    Already cooling down.

If I had a walk in freezer, I'd be doing that right now. Just to see what happens.

I live in the UK and my seizmometer picked it up. My highly insensitive bit of "try it for a proof of concept" kit picked that up. Was a pretty good quake you felt :p.

Right, but for derby purposes, in most stock classes that would be illegal because it's not factory, whereas the cross member on the 03 and newer vics is.

Got the motor, tranny, exhaust, and fuel tank ripped out of the old newport. Have the front clip off, but snapped the 1/2" ratchet trying to get the back 2 bolts of the sub out.. apparently things rust after 40 years. I'll get that off next weekend, and then, let the building begin muahahaha

Oh and I worked on3 trucks and 2 other cars this weekend. 1 didn't get done in time, and the other 4 weren't allowed in for retarded reasons

Sorry to switch to a "weird" topic, but does anyone else notice how in Need for Speed Most Wanted (the 2005 game) the handling on the cars is really unreallistic. Either the cars are super grippy or in "slide mode" where you can't control the car no matter what.

I think underground 2 had pretty solid handling on the cars, they felt more real.

Most video games (NFS included) do have unrealistic handling. It sometimes *seems* real but its often tweaked to be very highly forgiving and perhaps to add a fun factor - ultimately thats what its all about, the game is meant to be fun, its not a simulator. Even forza and gran turismo when you compare them to a real vehicle are slightly odd. BeamNG is of course a simulator so is taking a different approach, there are a few others too.

Since i don't drive at the moment how close would you say assetto corsa is to real life? Based on what the fiat 500 or bwm are like to drive in game of course as i am sure no one on these forums has driven a formula abarth for example.

Im kinda interested since i can drive both the abarth and BMW E30 pretty well with stick shift. Wondering how much that would transfer over to when i do driving lessons. I guess euro truck sim may have helped a bit too.

Are you actually using a wheel and shift kit or a controller. Tbh using a Logitech g25 and the fanatec wheel with manual it helped me a lot to play live for speed. Assetto corsa is decent. But you don't drive on a race track to work, the store, to your grandmas.. so it doesn't matter. Driving is pretty simple honestly. Manuals just add a new challenge to it

    Tldr

Live for speed with a wheel clutch and shifter is the best way to learn how to drive a stick. Try pulling out and shifting at proper Rev points. Remember u don't drop the clutch roast your tires and Rev out each gear irl

    I use G25 with manual+clutch in ETS2
I use G25 with manual flappy paddle w/o clutch in Assetto corsa. Unless i am driving a fiat 500 or similar because they are more fun when you are thrashing them with full manual+clutch on a rally style track.

The thing with assetto corsa is i am not actually a huge fan of track racing, rally is more my style. So when i play assetto corsa i usually play on jeux plane or some sort of hill climb. Which are a little bit more like roads since they are actually on roads. But its nice to know that i should be able to transfer some of my ability with manual gearboxes over.

Considering how some locals drive you could have fooled me :p

Download and try live for speed. Was a pretty good interpretation for me that actually helped me when I got behind the wheel of an rsx and hot rodded it lol

When I started driving in April my instructor thought I had already had around ~10 hours practice. When I told him about my G27 and Assetto Corsa he was very surprised and said that he would recommend that every new driver has one :p .

Lol. That's funny. He'd recommend people to buy a $40 game and a $300 wheel that they couldn't even use because their computers couldn't even run Assetto Corsa.
