Someone I did a job for a little while ago was going to throw out a copy of Windows 3.0 still in the plastic.. So I took it.. Who knows how much $$ it'll be worth in 20 years.
I tried getting a time lapse of the eclipse, but it turns out 85% coverage isn't actually enough to make much of a visual difference. The shadows change though, which is neat. In hindsight I would have made a time lapse of that instead but by the time I got that set up now, it would be pretty much over.
The weather is s#@t where I'm at. Damn clouds has blocked my view. I only got a few glimpses of the beginning before the clouds rolled in, and it wasn't much.
I recently moved from Missouri to Florida, so I'm missing out on complete totality. Still, the sun's been reduced to a crescent (through eclipse glasses, a ellipsoid as seen by the naked eye, via a reflection). To say nothing of the fact that the temperatures have plummeted ~20 degrees Fahrenheit to the point where it's almost livable outside.
I wore a welding helmet, I'm just a few miles too far north to be in totality, but I was still supposed to get 99.8%, What I wasn't expecting was the strange shadows and all the crickets and cicadas thinking it was night.
scared the living daylight out of me... You know those rechargeable dehumidifiers.... yeah i decided to "Test" them by pouring water into it, it took a lot of water like a very large amount, i waited a while for any of the water to go and then after i plugged it in, a buzzing noise resulted and i unplugged it, then i did again and same so i unplugged it, then i thought it might just be a bit of water in the middle so i left it plugged in for 2 seconds (or there abouts) and BANG the thing lit up like a yellow firework and went completely orange, then my computer goes dead... then i look around and yes i have tripped the sockets circuit... this is not good, then i look in the cupboard for the electrical panel and yeah it is up, so i put it up and nothing happens....... oh dear i thought what the hell has happened but then i powercycle the RCD switch and all is well, now looking at the damage i have 2x extension leads without power... new fuse required in the plug but surprisingly the fuse in the actual lead for the dehumidifier didnt fire (at least i can't see on the outside)... Well lesson learnt, the PTC heater in these dehumidifiers is not waterproof, now i just need to figure out a way to use it without the PTC heater
