Interesting news on the Wreck-fest blog. They put a post saying they want indie music and are having a cash prize contest. The interesting stuff? The picture in the blog was of an estate car and the concluded the post by saying they have been working on a lot of new features including "loads of new unique cars" and the expected stuff for this coming update (for those who don't know, the plan was for Bugbear to release a full version, career mode and all, for PC in late 2017/early 2018). TBH I feel like Bugbear is making the same mistakes that Oovee-era Spintires made, just over a much longer timeline. A single full release update after a long period of silence and no promise of major content after that isn't the most exciting thing to look forwards to. I'm sure what they add will be good though.
Speaking of Wreckfest, is Bugbear and BeamNG rivals? And Damn, the biggest cash prize is $3500? If I was a musician, this would probably be me. As for comments on their post, I think that estate car looks like a Volvo.
Wreckfest/Spintires/Drive all had tech-demos and availability on steam around the same time and many youtubers make videos of all 3, so I have always seen all three as competitors. Wreckfest and BeamNG definitely shared a player base for awhile, though many Wreckfest players have left due to developer inactivity. When the Wreckfest tech-demo was released Bugbear didn't know how much of an arcade game they wanted it to be, hence a lot of changes in physics in the early versions. One update the vehicles would behave fairly realistically, the next they it would be full on arcade. It's interesting that all 3 games are having large updates in a 3 month span (the first in a long time for two of them), I imagine Wreckfest and Drive will once again be competing for at least a couple of months until Bugbear will probably focus on Stuntfest and Wreckfest will once again feel abandoned. Prizes total +$12k... That's a lot off money for a small company often accused of taking players money and going onto the next project instead of finishing the last. It does look like a 1980's Volvo 200 series estate (I know little about Volvo, forgive me if I am making a mess of the nomenclature). I really hope the pre-order exclusive car is a 30's coupe or 50's sedan. Bugbear has a history of including some strange extra cars in the Flatout series, so hopefully we will also get some large vehicles. I doubt it, but they did say they are adding some unique vehicles so I won't cross out the possibility yet.
Interesting. I didn't fully check into it, so I didn't see the the $12k prize total, but man, I'd love to have that kind of money. Also, where did those accusations come from? I don't follow them, so take that with a pinch of salt. As for the car, I easily pictured a wagon like the 200 Series, especially like the one pictured. Great, now I'm thinking about Jargls now.
The accusations of them taking players money? Just look at their reviews on steam (and to a lesser extent their forum). Wreckfest updates tend to be few and far in between and they only keep the community updated around the time of an update. Console versions have been available for pre-order for ages and looking at a late 2018 release. The deluxe edition isn't cheap and right now doesn't have anything special; Bugbear only recently announced that the backers car will be available "soon" and we still know nothing about it. They split Flatout into Wreckfest and Stuntfest (makes sense though, its just probably annoying for a decent ammount of people like mewho loved Flatout 2 back in the day).
It's a feature, not a problem... yeah. Clutch bell housing is pretty badly worn, and it keeps that clattering noise when clutch isn't pressed.
So, my friend was taking with me on Discord. He's out driving about in... Wherever he lives (Long Island....? Meh, it's beside the point) and has now dubbed riceing of American cars "Burgering"
Memories.. Just discovering that the moderation was very corrupt on the RoR forums I hope I don't get banned... :\
Apparently shaded pole motors can be slowed using a TRIAC based dimmer. So i have one hooked up to my vintage fan, and before that i have my kil-o-watt meter measuring current, motor is actually cooler at low speeds and ive found its sweetspot already, 13 watts or so, its approx 45 watts on max. It's a bit more hummy but its doing fine, and there is a slight high pitched noise from the dimmer pulsing it if you listen closely. But what it has highlighted is that it is imbalanced, so it does a sort of dance when you set it superlow (like to 6 watts it starts head bopping its really quite funny to watch)
If only it were warm enough here to use a fan. My phone claims that the warmest it'll be from now to Monday is 12*c, and every other day is in the single digits...
It's warm enough when ur family have the thermostat set to 20c! and as heat rises upstairs is approx 23c! so it is plenty warm enough!
