*P For me Discord feels like a better version of Skype but that's it. As a replacement for TS it just feels bloated and unnecessarily simplified, part of the reason I like TS so much is that it's interface is easy to use but also doesn't take up that much space on the desktop (Discord is at the very least three times the size), furthermore it's much more subtle and resource friendly, which is very important considering you're going to use it while you're gaming. I know Discords design was heavily inspired by Slack but to me that doesn't make any sense, Slack is a program used for communication between work groups, Discord (again ignoring the whole non TS stuff) is something you use to communicate with your mates while you're doing something else entirely, it should not be the focus on your monitor. And while it's taking up a lot more space it has a lot less in terms of options, AFAIK you can't even set your mic sensitivity..
I've actually always liked the modern elements in AC. Well, I liked the idea of them, I suppose the whole thing with the alien AI gods and the over-the-top shadow war conspiracy was too much. Still, they provided a nice contrast, and made the game stand out among other period-set games. Plus, the whole 'genetic memory' premise was kinda a stroke of genius. I will say that in that particular game, nothing ever really happens in the modern frame story, and there's hardly any real gameplay there, it's really only for those who want to sink their teeth in the series' lore. Also, perhaps it's been too long since I played IV, but I seem to recall only four or five times that you're forced out of the Animus while following the central story, totaling only about an hour in gameplay for a 20+ hour game.
If TS had the ability to make a server just as easily as Discord, I've no doubt we'd still be there. P.S, you can totally do mic sensitivity. I just tend to leave it on auto though, and it works 95% of the time
Alien god shadow war? That sounds crazy... I'm only 10 hours into IV (about 1 hour of that was dealing with the "AC4BFSP.exe has stopped working" crashes) and never played any others so I have no idea how the rest of the games are or how much of the modern stuff is actually in this game. I just know it kills me how twice now I've been pulled out of it as I was getting into it and my zoning out during the second time resulted in me sitting around for 20mn waiting for an objective to be given which already was given.

I do not get enough sleep. But if I did, I wouldn't be able to watch TV as much. I care more about electronic amusement then my welfare.
Solution! Sleep when nothing interesting is on. Normally there's never anything good on while the sun is up anyway... Totally didn't wake up at 3PM today...
Apparently though (And judging by how wrong the weather reports usually are, big emphesis on that apparently) it's meant to snow this year. It's meant to be pretty bad too...
