I'm my experience upgrading stock pre-builts... No. No they do not. Please, God, don't do it if you want reliability and compatability. The manufacturers lie to you. Components they say are compatible usually aren't. You hear me HP? Screw you. X58 is compatible with Xeon processors and you fucking know it. I will never recover from that failure. And before you go all "mmm, but Robin, your Athlon LE-1640 to triple core Phenom project went without issue and that was in a Compaq!" Yea well whatever, go away. Compaq never even listed that processor as compatible and yet it worked anyway so it's completely down to RNG just like everything else in my life. Sorry, I've been on edge lately.
