On the topic of music related ish. I'm very impressed with this NAD 705, certainly stands upto the NAD name, it's ability to keep nice clear highs and defined bass while playing very bass heavy albums such as Deep Purples Machine head album with plenty of thoomey bass guitar and kick drum hits. Certainly an amplifier (Receiver) that can supply buckets of current into low impeadance loads. Not bad considering the bad rep 90's audio gear gets. Oh and they're cheap too.
Anyone a fan of Disturbed then? I really like the songs from Ten Thousand Fists, The Lost Children, The Sickness, Immortalized, and Indestructible.
Quite funny actually, last year I went to a ZZ Top concert with my brother and some girl that was standing near us talked about how she only went to a Black Sabbath concert in London because they had Disturbed as their supporting band. Needless to say, I and my brother laughed our asses off... no offence though The same girl said that she's very sad about having found out about Kurt Cobain's death because she apparently just got into his music.... OT: The only song I've ever heard by them was this atrocious Simon & Garfunkel "The Sound of Silence" cover....
It's not really bad, it's just not that much of a Disturbed-feel. The other ones on Immortalized are atleast still in the spirit of the earlier albums. (Well, maybe for the exception of Fire It Up.) Since you only had listened to one song, I recommend you listen to TLC's Monster. It's really good for a album that doesn't seem to outshine.
Yes, it really is "that bad". Have you ever listened to the original even once? Apart from the bad singing voice of however-the-guy-is-called it get's the point of the song all wrong, it's called The Sound of Silence not "The Sound of Someone's Voice Breaking"... As far as covers go I'd say It is even worse than the cover of "Behind Blue Eyes" by Limp Bizkit.
Oh god, my Pandora station started played that the other day. It was a shame, but that station went bye-bye shortly afterwords.
Well, you clearly chose a cover, not a original song. If you actually play one of their actual songs (by actual, I mean originally made by them.), I'm sure you'll get a kick into what Disturbed really is.
What? First of all, I didn't "choose" to listen to it as my local radio station played it a few times and second if the cover hasn't got "that much of a Disturbed-feel" I don't even want to go near their other songs, I mean if they can't even get a cover right there's not much point in listening to their original songs, is there?
When I mean that, it doesn't have much weight some of the other songs on the album have. If you REALLY want to get into modern Disturbed, The Vengeful One would be a great choice. (Also, David Draiman (The vocalist) is Jewish, just so you know. Interesting, huh?)
Yup, For Whom the Bell Tolls was the song that got me into metal, and it's still one of my favorites.
Okay, what about Nirvana? I really like the album, Nevermind, which is pretty much the album that.. well... you know. (I'm not explaining it, you SHOULD already know.)
I've never seen such a long discussion on this thread. Off topic: Youtube is really getting on my nerves. Their recommended video algorithm has prompted a lot of channels I use to follow to put quantity over quality and made me unsubscribe to a lot of them. Codyslab just uploaded a video on his B channel about his main channel recently getting suspended over something stupid AGAIN and he discussed some other difficulties with Youtube as a platform. I don't know why content creators are putting up with this/why there isn't a good Youtube competitor around.
nevermind is my favorite album they made I also like scorpions, alice in chains, metallica, pink floyd, boston, among others. a few below: My favorite scorpions album is love at first sting my favorite aic album is dirt my favorite metallica album is ride the lightning my favorite pink floyd album is the final cut my favorite boston album is boston
How about DIO, when he was the lead singer for Rainbow. Small man with a big voice. Love me some hard rock.
Also, Shawn "Clown" Crahan is also a director for Slipknot music videos, which he's also one of the original founding members of Slipknot. (...and no, Corey wasn't one of them actually.)
Dio is always going to be one of my all-time favorites. He had a hell of a resume, yet never quite received the fame that Ozzy and the other frontmen get. Dio-era Black Sabbath has a good number of my favorite Black Sabbath songs.
