Good 'ol Musky. Only on motorways (I think). It's illegal here in the UK too. I agree with it, running out of fuel is completely avoidable and can put you and other drivers in harms way on the motorway.
I heard he wasn't actually sending the car to Mars, but it's going to travel to the distance of Mars' orbit. I find this to be a very historical moment. Like I said in another thread, the Tesla Roadster has earned the title of the first car to ever be put in space. I can't get over how much Tesla continues to impress me.
That might be dumber than Oregon's law that you couldn't pump your own gas, because the state got rid of that law this year.
Really? The UK too? Makes me wonder how many real crimes happened while the police were too busy arresting people because their cars ran out of gas. --- Post updated --- Well there was a time when gas station employees would do all the work for you, but that's just dumb to make it illegal for people to do all the pumping themselves.
I can't imagine it happens that often. Stopping on a motorway is incredibly dangerous, especially in Germany where cars could be going past at well over 200km/h. Running out of gas is 100% your fault and frankly you deserve a fine if you're that negligent.
Well, technically there's no law against running out of fuel, but you can be finned for driving without due care and attention. Yup.
Thrustmaster is making a handbrake now, and it doubles as a sequential gearbox. It also costs $240, but I mean, it's a hand-quential brake-box.
I disagree. I do agree that it can be dangerous for a car to run out of gas though. Sometimes it's not your fault that the car runs out of gas. What if you are aware of your gas situation, but there is no gas station for miles? What are you going to do then? I find it to be a law full of flaws.
There's plenty of service stations dotted along the motorways, atleast in the UK. The only way you could run out is if you don't stop for fuel when you're in the verge of empty...
For most cars, there's usually at least 50-60km worth of fuel left when the warning light comes on. If you know you'll be driving into an area that remote, it's pretty silly to let it get that low.
In both countries it's not actually illegal to run out of gas. The act of endangering other road users is. Running out of gas is extremely avoidable. You know your route. You know how much gas you have. Number of arrests for it are extremely low because most people aren't that stupid. The one time I got caught out. I idiotically drove somewhere, skipped over the gas station as it would still be there on my way home. On my way home it was shut, at that point the nearest 24 hour gas station (and I did check online as well as futilely pull into every other one on the way home) was 33 miles away, basically it was at home. I ran out of fuel as I pulled into that gas station. Whose fault? Mine for neglecting to get fuel in advance There was one garage that was 24hr, but was unmanned at night, had to use a card machine on pump itself, card machine was broken on one pump and other pump was out of order --- Post updated --- Actually not the case. Main reason is that there are actually different types of CD that need a different frequency laser to read them and have a different thickness. Burnable discs aren't the same thickness and frequency as audio discs, they're close and so within loosely toleranced players but they are legitimately out of spec for an audio player
Just found this. Not as spectacular as a real car shot into "real" space, but still very entertaining to watch:
I finally got one of these for the radio in the kitchen. Not a totally conventional application, but it sure is a lot cheaper than a bluetooth speaker, and I don't have to listen to the tinny sound straight out of my phone anymore.
