Re: General discussion chat We used to have a bunch of P2 and P3 stuff and some P1 laptops but we hauled like 400 pounds of that crap to the transfer station. It all fit into the back of my dad's old Saab wagon. - - - Updated - - - I had an idea for a project. Someone tell me if it's stupid. A box with a car battery in it and an inverter with enough power to run my desktop. (Or just charge shit.) Then have a bunch of solar panels on top to charge like phones and stuff or slowly charge the battery.
Re: General discussion chat technically people already do that (motorhomes with solar panels & pure sine inverters as well as batteries)
Re: General discussion chat My life right now feels like a placeholder. It feels like the next 2-3 years of my life are like a spare tire.
Re: General discussion chat Dang, that toshiba laptop comes pre-installed with AOL, talk about old (although im one to talk considering aol is my email) Sent from the 3rd galaxy via the talks of tapping
Re: General discussion chat Not overly stupid. But car batteries are usually only 40 to 90 amp hours, not going to power a desktop for too long. Not only that but they are designed to not be deep cycled under any circumstance, car batteries deep cycled only last about 10-20 charges before failure. They are designed for high peak currents to only partially deplete them before charging again. Motorhome and marine batteries can be deep cycled and are offered in higher capacities to boot. Usually one of the 2 is used for a home solar array too. Desktops also need a true sine inverter. Most cheap inverters on the consumer market are square wave. Some of the more expensive ones are stepped wave. True sine costs an awful lot.
Re: General discussion chat Yeah, not getting a solid input (because the inverter, wattage, volts, noise) is the best way to kill a PSU and lots of hardware.
Re: General discussion chat What do you guys have on your Christmas lists? Here's mine so far: -Logitech G27 -GoPro HERO -HD Webcam -External HDD -Steam Cards I really want either the GoPro or the G27, but the G27 is a little more than my parents typically spend so I probably won't be getting that.
Re: General discussion chat I have a 20 item(and growing) amazon wish list named Christmas wishlist for 2014, that answer your question? Main things I'd like are cx600m, gtx 760 SC (or gtx 960 if its out at time), g27, and a 1080p monitor Sent from the 3rd galaxy via the talks of tapping
Re: General discussion chat Buzzkill #1 is giftcards and stuff. I had over $250 but it got lost when we moved. #2 is a 1080p monitor, #3 is the 315p. Counts as beta access to SC. Otherwise I haven't thought of much.
Re: General discussion chat Fuuuuuuuuck I did another gopro video of the mustang, but I decided to put it on the roof. The only thing you can hear the whole goddamn video is wind noise. This was the most interesting video yet. 3 burnouts in 5 minutes. :| Faster speeds, slight driftu etcetc I went the most balls to the wall in this video that I have before. I would go completely flat out balls to the wall but my dad doesn't let me.
Re: General discussion chat My list consists of entirely an Xbox One. That's it, an Xbone. And another year of live.
Re: General discussion chat Just a long spiral of non happy thoughts while stuck in my own little room with nothkng but a dishwasher for company and the odd call from the kitchen. Uncle passed away last night which is never nice to think about. Then got thinking about the fact that technically he is not my uncle, yes he's dads brother in law but at the same time dad is only dad in law, I haven't met my biological father. Also just started dwelling on the shit things that have happened in my last in general.
Re: General discussion chat Gabester is viewing this thread, Great to see you back I hope all is going well for you Gabester.
