Re: General discussion chat 3 hours might be a bit too fair, considering I assume it'd have to be kinda bad to get three of them. If it's just 3 hours you can go away for a bit if you aren't desperate, a day gives them more time to be annoyed and think it over.
Re: General discussion chat Is all of this really necessary? :| "xxxx posts since <join month and year>" I'm sorry, but it looks terrible. What was wrong with the good ol' post count? And the join date. What was wrong with having them in two separate lines? it looks like shit. It's bothering me.
Re: General discussion chat People that have majority of posts in the non-Offtopic part of the forum and people which have their majority of posts in the Offtopic section. Gives a rough idea on who is into BeamNG and who is here just to chat. Get some smoke
Re: General discussion chat Just a question why does the sidebar look really cluttered and ugly even tho its smaller?
Re: General discussion chat Because you were used to the way it was before. Now it looks smushed. lol, post count went from almost 3k to almost 2k. 6677 still has 3.3k
Re: General discussion chat oh he fixed it I'm fine now. thx tdev Since we're tightening up on the contributing members here, I say we do the same with the complete retards. Stupidity isn't an excuse.
Re: General discussion chat my thanks button disappeared, guess i've been thanking too many posts lately which is strange as i only remember thanking one or 2 posts so far today
Re: General discussion chat Is it me, or are my taillights very wrong? Mine: IRL: ^^^ Bakasan's pic btw
Re: General discussion chat Was looking at this page, posts and date joined were on same bar. Refreshes, they are now on different bars. Admins evidently hard at work Personally i really quite like this thread, its one of the main reasons i actually bother to visit the forums. While occasionally helping people out with things is nice, the main reason i come here is to socialize to a certain extent. I like this thread because it moves far slower than an IRC does meaning i can actually still get stuff done without being glued to an IRC chat window on my second monitor while work sits open but unedited on my primary screen. I also don't think that this thread should be moderated very heavily, don't get me wrong, its good to have moderation but this is an off topic thread called general discussion. I think infractions should only be given out when people cross the line. For example in my opinion someone posting "i farted today" should not result in any infraction at all, in my opinion that comment has not broken any rules nor has it gone against the posting guideline. This is off topic general discussion, so it did contribute to the thread, it was written in proper English and was clear and to the point meaning that it was well written (thus it has passed posting guidelines [in my opinion]). You may think that i am being really pedantic here but the main point i want to make about the "i farted today" post is that giving out 3 infraction points for that (which will now result in a time out) is a pretty damn good way to damage a community and cause hostility, which in my opinion is not something the world really needs more of. Im not entirely sure what to think about the removal of "senior member" badges and so on. It could either be good or bad, im not sure. Maybe something to replace the badge system based on post count divided by the number of thanks a member has received would be a decent idea. The main issue i see would be people constantly trying to get thanks. For that system to work i think that posts and thanks made in off topic should not count so that people who post a lot in this thread etc are not penalized. This also means that its people who actually help other members and contribute [to the actual proper forums, not the off topic section] that get the better badges. Personally im fairly interested to hear what others think about this new rank system idea. 99.99% of the above is opinion based so please don't take it as me telling others what to do etc etc People have always been saying that the ror forums have been going to crap for a very long time. Its pretty much a staple of those forums now. But i never had that thought when i was actually using them (i haven't been on there in a long time, maybe its now filled with hundreds of asian princes who want to complete transactions who want to give me xxx money to do it, idk). Maybe its just because of all the new faces that keep appearing and disappearing there that some people don't like.
Re: General discussion chat No way I think I lost like 4 posts, I'm totally devastated :| Thank god because people with like 2000 pointless posts are annoying. Also 3 points should really be like a 1 day ban. 3 hours is like no time to anyone. No, stop posting forever.
Re: General discussion chat man, i want to thank this post a billion times sadly i can't even thank it once ATM so this post will be my "Thanks" post until the forums decide to give me my thanks ability back on another topic WHY CAN'T GTA V COME FASTER I WANT IT SO BADLY D:
Re: General discussion chat I think the infraction points system is very seriously broken. There seems to be no standards behind how many points are given out for doing something. Its not even outlined what doing something is (I cant even find the forum rules) . Once again i will go back to the "i farted today" post which gained 3 infraction points, the reason i use it is because its the most extreme example i have seen, not because it is the most representative. If that is what gets someone 3 points then i don't think any action should be taken until someone reaches 9 points. But if someone receives 1 infraction for being abusive towards others then i think that 3 points should receive a days time out. I think that's where part of the issue lies. While TDev has been very happy to close the infractions thread stating that people are wearing them like trophies he himself gives out large infractions over trivial things (i will use the same above example because it is the most extreme i have seen). Another mod gave out an infraction because someone asked for one in that very thread so that they could post that they had it. If you want people to take the system seriously then the BeamNG staff should treat it equally seriously. Perhaps treating the system seriously would be to create a public table stating exactly what people will receive points for and how many points equate to what punishment. Setting out standards and making sure that they are followed by both community members and moderators. I did debate whether i should post this since i may have kinda insulted the dev team. But i think it made an important point. So i may as well add this: I am more than happy to congratulate the dev team on the frankly amazing work and effort that they put into the game. But personally i do think that improvement may need to be made in terms of PR related stuff, i am probably just as good at PR as i am good at beating Usain Bolt in a 100m sprint, so perhaps i am wrong. EDIT: I found the rules. They are in the posting permissions box at the bottom of the page. So that statement should probably read along the lines of "The rules should be in a more visible place such as at the top of the main forum page.
Re: General discussion chat The circles of the brakelights are too small. You need to either shrink the main light area or make the circles bigger so that they go to the edge. Other than that they're not wrong, they just don't have the detail yet.
Re: General discussion chat Like aljowen said, I like off-topic because I get to socialize with people without the constant distraction the IRC is. I was always bothered by off-topic posts counting towards post count, but never mentioned anything because it wasn't a huge deal at the time. I personally like the change.
