Re: General discussion chat Seems legit. I hate how PC shops advertise things as being gaming grade without even detailing what GPU they have inside on the marketing. Round near me it seems that they use RAM as an indicator of performance, which no means that there are I3 laptops with Intel HD being advertised as very powerful because they have 6gb of RAM. I need to start a PC shop where customers can actually get something properly specced for what they need rather than having 5petabytes of ram paired with a pentium 2 300mhz CPU.
Re: General discussion chat Considering now that you have no hierarchy to determine how 'good' you are on this forum, especially considering the post count will not ++ after posting here, why not use IRC for what it is meant for instant chatting, sure, the main channel #BeamNG is for support etc, but amazingly, other channels can be made, and oh, look at that, I made one for you. Open the 'chat' tab at the top in a new tab. Let it connect you to IRC, you will automatically join #BeamNG If you want to receive help or talk generally about BeamNG stay there sure, But if you want to swear (yes you can swear in this new room), be immature, talk about nuttella and genitals type /join #BeamNGOfftopic, you will then join the BeamNG offtopic channel; yes there are no people that hate BeamNG in here. Go crazy, leave the damn forum alone.

Re: General discussion chat What's the problem with people posting here? IRC's are fast moving and very distracting, it can sometimes be hours between things happening here which helps to control levels of distraction. When I get home I can read all of the posts since I last viewed the thread and catch up whereas I cannot do that on an IRC. I don't see why you have a problem with people posting here. If you don't want this thread to be here then you can just ignore it. Also if you think that the only reason we post here is because we want the largest e-peen then you are quite mistaken. While I know I can't speak for everyone I know that the sole reason for me being here is to talk to other people. If I wanted to increment a number I would just go play cookie clicker or something similar.

Re: General discussion chat lolwat? i have never ever ever seen or heard of IRC showing ALL previous messages no matter when you log on well, i suppose there are BNC's but IMHO that's not really the same (especially since it WON'T keep ALL messages from the moment the channel was started, unlike with forums where they are all there unless a post is deleted)

Re: General discussion chat Some people, myself included, don't really like IRC. I've used it a couple times, but I can't say I'm impressed. The people I'd want to talk to aren't on there typically so I get bored rather quickly.

Re: General discussion chat bouncers still aren't really the same (read my edit for my reasoning) also irc clients tend to lag out from all the messages with some of the channels i go to on my phone (not a phone thing either, the sheer amount of messages just kills the app's performance) also you still haven't explained the problem with people using this thread instead of IRC
Re: General discussion chat Must be one crappy phone. You can use logs, if one is too lazy for even that then whatever. tdev is the one that setup IRC for the community, he may as well just get rid of it. Edit: The crappy posts getting people banned is the reason.
Re: General discussion chat Well I don't always have time to hold an actual conversation. Sometimes I only have a minute to say something. I can easily read the few previous posts to catch up and say what I want to say and then bounce. Can't really do that in IRC.
Re: General discussion chat srsly, i JUST said it's not my phone, there are litterally THOUSANDS of messages being sent AT ONCE with all the channels i tend to go to, so after a certain amount of messages get recieved the APP dies, it doesn't matter what app either i'm 100% certain if i left my irc client open all the time on my pc it would eventually kill the irc clients performance on here as well also tdev didn't setup the IRC, he just added a new page with a web irc client that connected to the 3phasegaming irc network - - - Updated - - - you say that as if every single post here is crappy, which isn't true at all :/
Re: General discussion chat Wrong, he now runs his own server connected to 3phasegaming. I leave my IRC cleint open on my phone and PC 24/7, connected to 4 servers and about 20 channels, seems perfectly fine for me.
Re: General discussion chat doesn't matter anyway, if you don't like this thread then hey guess what YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE IT pretty much everyone else does like it however and the chance of everyone moving to IRC is 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% also lol, only 20 channels? i'm on 40 or more at general (and 2 of them are as i said, sending thousands of messages all at once) and i don't like messages disappearing, so i generally leave the "Remove older messages from window" option disabled which is probably why it eventually kills my performance
