To me it does. I don't know why but when I have the game windowed instead of fullscreen, regardless of the resolution, I get around 30%-40% (rough estimate) less fps than what my computer is capable of.

    - - Edit - -

This happens when the window active btw.

New driver from AMD (omega) leaked. VSR and 24 screens in 4x cf are both very neat, also looks like they fixed some of the bugs they've had since 2012.

that wouldn't work AFAIK, he's on a desktop pc, not a laptop (meaning the pc uses whatever gpu you have your monitor plugged into, however his gpu could be detecting beamng as a 2D program instead of 3D (would would be similar to a laptop with nvidia optimus deciding to use the igpu))

i still think he should check his windows power options and make sure it's set to high performance though

Well, turns out rendering cycles in blender on a gtx970 + gtx560ti works pretty nicely. Sadly GTA4 still runs like crap on the GTX970, only a bit better than the 560ti, its using the correct GPU (checked using evga precisionx) and its not maxing out my CPU either. It isn't even maxing out the GPU, the 970 stays around about 60-70% utilization and the cpu stays around 70-80% utilization, im pretty stumped by it, i have no idea what im doing wrong. Originally the game would not let me change the settings because i had ran out of vram because it said i was using 202mb/3896mb of ram (yeah i have no idea how it figured that one out either) , so i had to add the target options telling it to ignore ram. Oh well at least everything else runs well too.

My PC also stays surprisingly cool. Nothing is getting too hot and i only have a front intake and exhaust fan.

The inside of my PC looks fairly ridiculous now too xD
(got the new card for birthday today)

Just rendered this at 8k in 5 mins. http://imgur.com/oBOYtkM

AMD GPUs often have this quirk where they won't recognize it as a game if it's in windowed mode.

No idea why it would, I can max it out at 1080p and still get 45fps+ in any situation. Without mods of course and with the 1.0.7.0 patch.

    i agree with this

heck even my hd2500 can get 45fps (yes i'm on lowest settings including a resolution of 800x640, but still, for a game that's supposedly has the worst optimisation ever (which ubisoft has taken over with AC:U) it runs pretty darn well on a very very low power gpu)

Dayumm, that's a good score for a 560ti :p (its actually running on the 970, heaven just doesn't show it)

Here is a screenshot of the GTA4 issue. Until i told it to ignore ram it would not let me go above minimum settings stating that 202mb was to much vram for my card.

well, there's something wrong with your pc, because your cpu shouldn't be having the problems your stating, nor should your gpu be having problems

I know minecraft isn't the most optimized but when a modmaker can't be bothered to put together a pack that works I blame them and not the game. They messed something up and it's just slamming my CPU. Even at 4.3Ghz it was still using ~85% of the CPU and getting less than 1 fps. Tick was taking 98.75% of rendertime.

Minecraft optimization is terrible. I get about 35-55 fps while my friend running on some pentium and integrated graphics gets around 50-80 fps. It's really frustrating.

hmmm, most people i see with horrible MC fps seem to be on AMD FX cpu's, i wonder if minecraft is being affected by their low single threaded performance (since AFAIK minecraft only uses 1 core for everything)

Memory is one of the key things. They may also be running Optifine and an older version. I allocate about 10gb to Minecraft so I can set massive render distances without an FPS drop

I don't have any problem rendering the chunks and terrain, as much as it is the fact the my GPU doesn't recognize minecraft as a game. I actually get about a 200% performance increase when I'm folding (which uses ~99% of my GPU). For whatever reason, my computer decides minecraft doesn't require any sort of processing power to run.

does amd catalyst or whatever it's called not allow you to manually tell it to run minecraft as a game?

    i know nvidia's CP will

    - - - Updated - - -

most people CAN'T allocate anymore then 1-2GB because minecraft tends to freak out and stutter with anything more

despite popular opinion, minecraft is actually more cpu & gpu intensive then it is ram intensive
