Re: General discussion chat Go and compare the Pentium 4 2.8 (Northwood) and the Athlon 3200+ 2.2 The Intel costed way more than its AMD counterpart and was about 2 times slower. So diss NetBurst from then to the end of time.
Re: General discussion chat I have physics also discovered that changing an objects mass is broken :/
Re: General discussion chat It's still good enough to web browse and stuff. It's not bad for a 11.5 year old computer, OK? I like it. It will get use for another 11.5 years and stuff. I know NetBurst isn't the best, but it's enough.
Re: General discussion chat Core 2 Duo's used a proper CPU architecture so you'll be fine. They weren't in production until late 2006 though, so your laptop is newer than you thought. NetBurst was literally the worst thing to happen to Intel ever. They fucked up so bad AMD had faster, more efficient CPUs from 2001/2002 to 2006.
Re: General discussion chat Membrain switches are non-linear. There is a tactile bump when you press the switch then it slides down linearly until you bottom out. When it hits the bottom two bits of metal contact and you get a key press. It will then very quickly return back to its normal state. There are both linear and non linear mechanical switches availible, for example cherry mx reds are completely linear. Cherry mx blues have a tactile bump at the actuation point as well as an audiable click We have one of those dell keyboards in the office, they are well built and very solid. As long as you do not need to press more than 3 keys at a time, that keyboard is pretty ok.
Re: General discussion chat MX Browns are best. Tactile bump without the audible click. Reds are awful. Blues are annoying.
Re: General discussion chat I would go for browns personally. But i am going to keep my current rubber membrane one until it dies. I quite like the look of the ducky keyboards. One of my friends has a corsair k70 with MX reds and loves it, but when i tried it i found that the switches felt somewhat cheap due to lacking the tactile bump. But different strokes for different strokes.
Re: General discussion chat I just cant type on the reds, I like the feedback, I hate the noise of the blues. Leaves browns as an obvious choice. For now. I use a cheap logitech K120 which cost me £8 shipped and is obviously going to be membrane at that price I do prefer 88 key models though, Corsair have the K65 for that but its MX Reds only. Ducky and WASD both have some nice 88 key models though. An IBM Model M though, noisy as fuck but it is rather nice to type on and could certainly kill a man.
Re: General discussion chat I need to find a replacement for my MS sidewinder x4 before it dies. I've found backlighting to be invaluable and I love the relatively flat profile of the key caps. A mechanical with backlighting and a relatively flat profile would be ideal. I've found I type with more of a glancing blow to the keys than an actual key press.
Re: General discussion chat I would really love this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-144-DK But its £150...
Re: General discussion chat I have a K120 that I had to pay £20. Great. Mouse costs $3 in the US, and I payed it £10. 800dpi £10 mouse ftw
Re: General discussion chat Pentium 3 master race (yes i actually do have a computer with a Pentium 3 still, it's an old Toshiba satellite)
Re: General discussion chat For fucks sake, overnight my visual studio remote debugging has completely failed
Re: General discussion chat I love Greens, don't own but tried tons. I want them. My poor membrane keyboards hate my heavy fingers.
Re: General discussion chat I have one from 1987, still works just fine. It's missing two keycaps though.
Re: General discussion chat I have a Dell mobo with a Slot 1 P3 700MHz in it. And 2 old AMD machines, a Duron and a K6. Also the old Dell.
Re: General discussion chat I have an AMD K6-2/500 and a Pentium II 400 MHz. Don't have a board for any of them though.
Re: General discussion chat I have that same AMD and have no P2. Had a P1, but it got trashed accidentally.
