Re: General discussion chat It's my bithday and I'm a little bit tipsy, so excuse my English. I've had more than a few bottles of Heineken because family and we're all Scottish. Anyway, anyone catch the new game by KSH? Medieval Engineers. It's finally happened... the thing I wanted minecraft to be. Build a castle and have the enemy destroy it and physics will wreak havoc on your creations. The aftermath will look cool too! but I was more thinking something. It's honestly one of the most intelligent moves I've seen an indie dev make, Set up a second team on a new project with a new focus with the same engine. The new game environment and requirements means new modes of thought, new ideas and it means you come across things that you didn't know you needed in the other, or you find flaws in the way you currently do something and create a better version of that thing for both games. The best result is that the new environment forces the new team to solve a problem that was unsolvable in the space environment. they they've done is make the amount of challenges developing their engine more diverse, it forces them to perform enough 'testing' to produce a much more robust game engine out that BOTH games will benefit from. Smart.
