Re: General discussion chat Saving for a car is fine, the problem is the insurance makes the whole "save for a car" thing kinda pointless. By the time you have the income that will allow you to pay for insurance as a new driver then you can also afford a car quite easily. Insurance is a matter of a couple of grand per year, although it falls rapidly. Thing is... super easy to come across someone selling a car for a couple hundred.

Re: General discussion chat If you read the log you can see I went completely leet You are not leet enough young one
Re: General discussion chat Around here I've noticed a strong correlation between building computers and being absolutely awful at managing money. Half of the people around here are broke because they waste their money on new computer parts as soon as they get it. Looking at you Cwazy
Re: General discussion chat :| I'm not bad at managing money, I'd just rather have this PC built then a couple other things. I have a car already.
Re: General discussion chat I'd rather have Crown Vic parts than a computer, but you don't see me blowing hundreds of bucks on parts every time I come across them. If you manage to become completely broke as a teenager, when you don't have all that many unavoidable expenses, you're probably not all that good at managing money.
Re: General discussion chat Ah, but you can't manage what you don't have and never get. I need a job.
Re: General discussion chat You know, ... grown ups tend to get broke too. ... . ... . Especially when people live on leasing rates for everything and spending all their monthly budget on those rates.
Re: General discussion chat If you ever find yourself totally out of money, that's a great indication that you have poor financial management skills. Would be prudent to keep a very close eye on your spending. I pay bills, maintain my Euro nugget car, treat myself to tech on occasion, and double as a walking talking ATM for my better half all while maintaining a healthy 4, sometimes 5 digit bank account. I only work 3 days a week ffs. I don't have any credit cards, seldom pay full price for things, and never ever take loans on anything.
Re: General discussion chat I've managed to build a nice custom PC yet still have $2,500. Managing money is not that hard. I won't let my bank account drop below $2,000. I'd rather have computer parts than a car because 1) I get to drive my dad's truck for free (he pays for the gas) and 2) I can't have a car as a Freshman at University next year. I'll be getting my own car in a couple of years, but right now I don't see the need for one.
