Heck, just show him this post or ask on tomshardware. None of the first gen core i's had iGPUs IIRC and very few mobos had iGPUs.
It's not that simple. The effectiveness of a CPU cooler is due to many aspects. These aspects include, but are not limited to: Size, heat pipe count, heat pipe diameter, surface contact, fan size, fan speed, build quality, just to name a few. I know the Hyper 212 EVO inside and out, and it's excellent. Sure it's a little more expensive, but when you're fighting temperatures, you're going to wish you spent a little more initially. Here's a Top Tip: Don't cheap out now. There's a reason why that cooler is bottom of the range, it's only marginally better than a stock cooler. If you buy cheap parts in the beginning, like I did, you're going to spend way more in the future. It's best to bite the bullet now, than risk possibly damaging hardware.
I fully agree with BlueScreen here, then. You made it sound like there was something wrong with the stock cooler. There are certain things where price point doesn't matter, like ram. I find expensive, fancy ram to be idiotic, as it's been proven that it's not better than its value counterpart of the same speed. CPU coolers are different, though. Of course more expensive here is better. But, since you're not over clocking, it'll be ok.
but muh heatsinks I'll want to get a good looking RAM if I buy a windowed case. - - - Updated - - - Scribblenauts is fun. I solved a traffic jam by blowing up the cars with a rocket launcher from a helicopter.
I had a little piece of chocolate in one hand and the receiver in the other. I put the receiver in my mouth, thinking it was the piece of chocolate. I spit it out, but I guess it got soaked in enough saliva to kill it. :|
Don't try to tell me you've never done anything like that before. The little piece of chocolate and the receiver were the same size. Subconsciously popped the receiver into my mouth.
Wow, just wow. I had to take a moment after reading that just so that i could facepalm sufficiently. Some people... I have never done anything like that, i have done the occasional stupid thing in the past but never have i ate some electronics.
Literally never. Ever. Unless you have no feeling in your hands whatsoever, you should've known fine well what was in each.
Ah, makes sense then. I actually based what I said around the assumption that you were over clocking. That T2 will be fine as a temporary. There was clearly some confusion there. I'm sorry about that. - - - Updated - - - I was actually being slightly hypocritical... My ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220558 Even I have heat spreaders.
My RAM is rubbish, no heatsink, not even full height. If I buy a windowed case I'll buy a better RAM.
