I've found out NMM breaks if you download more than 5 files simultaneously. POS.

I know that I'm gonna sound stupid with or without explaining.
I bought it, downloaded. Doesn't want to run on this piece of shit desktop. "Unknown Error". Couldn't find anything on the steam help so, because this awful desktop is below the minimum requirements anyway, I decided to try and fix that computer that I bought like 2 months ago but still haven't got running.
And here I am 2 hours later with nothing to show.

He read the minimum requirements and decided his PC was good enough.

The game requires a 64bit OS. He's running 32bit Vista. It requires a GT 260. He has a 610. And so on..

I made a PCPP build for my actual rig, with the planned upgrades.

I want a Phantom 410 already, dammit. Need to sell my old GPU first.

My integrated graphics are better than that.

It really depends. If the game is actually 64bit then nah mate, it is completely incompatible with your system and i am surprised it even installed. If it is just because they expect the game to use more than 3gb of ram (since other processes will take up at least 1gb usually) then your computer would be crawling on the floor as it tries to move data between the hard drive and RAM in a futile attempt to keep everything running, but it would in theory actually run.
My bet is that the game is actually 64bit only.

Um yeah, sure. But it is probably capable of running the game even if it can only do it at 5fps, it most likely supports all required standards that the game would need, it just lacks the power to do much more than play solitaire. Although you could probably run some emulators on your pc no problem, possibly even to PS1 standard.

If you have hardware that supports 64 bit operating systems then i would suggest that you upgrade to 64 bit windows, you will get a free update when Windows 10 launches anyway so there is no need to wait. If not you will need to fix your other computer.

Perhaps if you told us what is happening when you try to make your other computer work someone on here may be able to help you fix it. Until then you are no better than people who have no idea how to change a spare tire.

    I'm being sarcastic.
Obviously it won't work if it requires a 64bit system. I didn't know that until after I installed it.
And my graphics card sucks. It's awful. An abomination to graphics cards.
I didn't buy it though. I'm not that stupid.
    This guy is awesome.

Me being stupid and lazy is the main problem. I've gone through it before.
Could be a corrupted install of windows 7, could be the PSU.
Then I tried to save it by installing xp from a thumb drive and I messed that up too.
I'm working on it. Very slowly.

You used the wrong kind of disk.

Get a 7 64bit ISO and put it on a DVD.

    Yes but what actually happens?
Does it get half way into loading windows and die? Does it post? Can it boot into the UEFI (or BIOS depending on age) and stay there without dying?

If the power supply from your working computer is powerful enough you could stick it in the broken one and see if it starts working providing that they use the same connectors. This may be a bit harder if they are not modular. I would try re installing the OS first though, perhaps you could try and install it from a usb stick if you have one lying around if you think you will find that easier.

Tried and tried again everything you said.
It shuts off starting windows. Loads and stays in BIOS fine. One time I left it sitting for a few weeks and it booted into windows just fine. Tried to restart it and problem persisted.
    Reinstalled OS probably 5 times.
The only other desktop psu in my possession is even more shitty than the one in the new computer.
Tried to install xp from a thumbdrive but I messed it up so I'm retrying that with windows 7.

Try running a Linux distro from a CD. All you need to do is download the distro onto a cd and get your computer to boot from the CD using it as a live disk.

If that works then you know the issue is your copy of windows, if it has the same issues then you know that something else is the problem.

    Some Guides:
http://www.linuxmint.com/download.php (no official guide found from simple google, should be easy enough anyway)
    http://zorin-os.com/installguide.html
http://crunchbang.org/download/ (probably easy, never tried it, i just put it here to calm 6677 slightly)

If you were to try Zorin OS and found it was ok to use you could install it by clicking the installer on the desktop and it will guide you through the install. Since Cities skylines runs on Linux you could just play it on that and use linux, chrome will run on linux if that is your browser of choice and you get Libre office pre installed for if you need to do work.
