Good point. The Chinese are notorious for fireworks debacles so if what we saw was a stack of firework conexes going off it would fit. Clearly the explosions were "dry", and not BLEVE's. There is an extraordinary video somewhere of a government agency (Britain I think?), testing various conexes packed with different types of fireworks and setting them off. A couple of them exploded nothing short of a small nuke and the similarities to what happened in Tianjin is remarkable. I need to track that baby down. Looking at aerial photos of the blast site and the amount of material stored there it could have been anything or everything.
So Australia is sending firefighters to the US to battle some bushfires or "Wild fires" as you yanks call them. You are welcome.
I'm on holiday at the moment so I have no idea what's happening. But I'm surprised no one has mentions d the airshow crash that happened recently. The plane crasher onto the motorway killing a few people on the motorway. https://youtu.be/pvHplYmh2f8
Yerr I was at an airshow the same time it happened; thankfully not the same one. Some pics of airshow Some more videos of the crash
Very sad. Watching the video makes another accident come to my mind. Specially the final moments of the crash and the circumstances of it reminded me too much at first of this crash 2 years ago which kind of shocked me at the time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=if0jhEA2z8k Though it's too soon to know the causes of the Shoreham crash at this point. The Vulcan did a fly-by tribute at the site: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Jh8JN42kf8
I hate allergies. My eyes are watering, my throat is sore, my nose is running. I took twice the dose of my allergy medication just to see if it works, and it doesn't. All this just because of plant sperm floating in the air. It's funny and really sad.
So I came back from a friends house were I was for 2 days about an hour ago, and the firts thing I saw when I was back in my room was that my TV was still on. It must've shown the "No Signal" message for like 45 hours.
I might try that, but nothing works on these bad days. Nasal sprays, my own prescription of 10mg loretadine, anything remotely related to allergies. Nothing really works. ugh
If Dr. Seuss was and actual doctor... The doctor was saying: 'Good golly, my dear, How splendidly strange and how perfectly queer! We've quested and tested and taken your blood - But more than we ought to, and more than we should! 'The answer's surprising,' he said with a smile, 'And worried the best and the brightest a while! The surgeons and doctors and dentists were dazed - They pondered, befuddled, and wondered, amazed! 'You see,' he explained with a wink of an eye, 'To start with your heart's in the shape of a pie! Your stomach's a sausage, and not to be rude - Your kidneys are cookies! ... You're so fucking screwed.'
That's because we don't have much in the way of bushes . I'm actually in the middle of these wildfires, I can't see across the small field next to my house, the sun shines red all day, and disappears long before sunset, not to mention the nauseating smell that sticks to everything. Coming from a family of wildland firefighters, I'm nervous.
So I've just found an app for my phone which allows me to set the screen brightness lower than you can in stock Android. It's just amazing.
Well, I wasn't just having an allergy attack, I got really sick about it at like 3:30. Shivering because of a fever, almost passing out, not fun. I slept for 2 hours, and now I'm here. oh boy.
Not too horribly long after seeing the footage, I decided to read up on the Halifax Explosion. I generally think it poor doctrine to compare disasters, but holy crap. I'm not ruling out deliberate act of sabotage, but two similar disasters occurring in short sequence isn't necessarily a connection. Last year, we lost two passenger airplanes operated by the same airline within less than two months' time. Though those two disasters were separated by a third of a planet, there weren't many sound theories pertaining to both being connected. It's also not impossible that the first explosion was an accident and the second a deliberate act, like a copycat crime.
Wilson being airlifted to the hospital. Ryan Hunter-Reay (winner) got news about it with lip-reading implying that it's very bad.
Since the human brain is a pattern seeking instrunment it's good nto to put too much weight behind these 'connections' where no empirical evidence shows they exist. So dont' worry, I don't really put much weight behind my words and don't necesserily believe there's a connecting conspiracy here
