Just because it wasn't referred to as a SUV at that time doesn't mean it isn't.

You mean the name the car got years after it was released?

There was something that I should've said.

What's interesting to me is that a lot of people according to what I looked up thinks that the 1946 Willys Jeep Station Wagon is the first SUV.

    Yeah.

Then it's not really continuing the actual model name (which was Type 1 originally). It's continuing the vehicle itself, but with a different name from the original.

Like the Pacifica is continuing the Town and Country, but it's under a different model name.

As painful as it may be to admit, the Nazis did have some impressive engineering for the time.

Yeah, you do have to credit how successful they were with the Type 1.

The levorg is really nice looking, but it is only availible with a 1.6 and a CVT. Give me a 2.0l turbo and a stick and it would be good.

Anyways, the beetle was an interesting little machine and it will be missed a bit by me. Too bad the new ones were rebodied golfs. If it had a rear engine it might have had a bit more success.

What’s next, Fiat killing the 500?

This Levorg is boy racer garbage. It doesn't even have an option of transparent real glasses.

Back on topic, I'm even glad the New Beetle is dead. I hate retro-styled cars.

They were often failures anyways (see latest gen Thunderbird, HHR/SSR, PT Cruiser, etc.).

I am forced to look at my neighbor’s beige pt cruiser convertible sometimes. Not a successful design.

The only reason the Beetle was able to survive this long was because of how much popularity the original vehicle had.
