I feel the same. Don't feel bad Dave, I still love your work. It's the BeamNG devs we should be mad at.
I don't think bloom is working, everything seems very sharp, which I do prefer. On AL11 I turned down the blur at distance, which could be separate from bloom but it looks just as spectacular as I AL11.
Miss bloom, using brightness to compensate somewhat. Throwing in a few new shots, last one is midday which i think ive got a fairly decent brightness to now
No, in fact how it works is that the Shader-folder from my mod is read on top of that folder. Got that instructed to me by Nadeox at one point. Everything in the "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\0.22.1.0" get read on top of the Beamng folders, so if i have a file in a "shaders" folder in the "C:\Users\Awesomeness\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\0.22.1.0" location its used in the game instead of the one you found They look abit dated yes
When is the filmic version going to be released? Also, I'm a bit sick of beamng having such low ambient occlusion, Is there anything I can do for this instead of using reshade?
Its done, i just have to compile it all so hopefully i can do that in the next couple of hours (its just a zip file but i have other stuff atm ) Posting some shots below. Ive looked at the AO, been lurking around the files but not really wanted to go wild with it and hardcoding values. My guess is that since Bloom doesnt seem to be working that they are doing stuff to the gfx/rendering (seen some code that sure looks suspect in a good way, code word BGE_COCONUT and tonemapACESfitted.h, which core code i happen to be using in my mod since some time back so funny and promising though with other values and some slight adjustment). My AL12 will be filmic'ish and AO will look abit stronger. Screenshotdump below: AL12 is coming! More filmic (tonemap changes) Crisper morning/evenings (sun and ambient gradient changes) Better transition to night (that is compared to AL11, not vanilla which is good afaim concerned) with a bright sky but dark land and so on Sun flare is now only one big, i got tired of the multi flare camera style for this one so reverted to a single one, attempting a GT Sports lookalike which ive modded to look good with sun rays and waht not Probably something more
Looks sweet on my HDR screen but looks kinda blend/white/dull on my SDR work screen. We'll see if it satisfies you --- Post updated --- Testing to see how things look when ive recalibrated my screen and quickly adjusted the tonemap accordingly. Pretty sure my screen is calibrated to its perfection but we'll see..... EDIT: Well its still the same, i cant recalibrate the monitor it looks dull'er on but this one sure seems to be on point. Did you try microsofts "Calibrate display color" tool, @Exchy ?
Looks nice! I don't think that people realise how blue natural light is, but you've pulled it off beautifully!
Thanks man! Ive indeed gone more blue lately and im quite happy with the look of it There definitely is a discrepancy between what things look like and how different ppl think it looks! Another test below: --- Post updated --- Moaaaah --- Post updated --- Moaaaaaaarhh
AL13 RELEASED Confirmed working on BeamNG 0.22.2, zipfile updated just for sure. INFO: The devs seem to have stopped using the full number of the latest update so for this one the folder to drop the separate files (watch the install vid) into is: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\0.22 If they wouldve kept the logic from the former updates the folder wouldve been named 0.22.2 but now its just 0.22, i assume for a good reason I could also not a significant FPS increase in this latest update. INSTALLATION VID FINALLY! Short, somewhat bad quality vid: Better, not great quality vid: Greatest quality on YT so far, i made i, finally! Thanks to YT guy EpicCrashChannel for the help! Bloom isnt working anymore in BeamNG afaik, so the devs are doing some intresting things i guess. The mod wont look aaaaas good as it could with a hint of Bloom but still A few thoughts, doesnt have to do with the mod installation: 1. I mention this in the installation vid but try increasing Chrominess/reflections of the car paint, it can do some really good things, for example its helps to show details when in shadows. 2. Another thing is, if you dont already, play around with Time Of Day and Fog. I really enjoy increasing the hell out of fog on Small Island and also setting the sun somewhat low, can give some really nice early morning, rally/offroading vibes.
