Got the official guide It's pretty cool covering everything you can imagine. Thought it's also kind of sad to see that gta5 is way less complex (apart the world) than rockstar claimed. And I hate to say that but after all the years waiting for this game and all the super huge hype about it I am more or less disapointed, after 10days it's already getting boring to play for me. (And don't get me wrong, I love the game but it's just I expected more) Also, no you can't buy safehouses or location to live in singleplayer! Wich is also a huge disapointment for me. But yeah, let's just hope the multiplayer is better than sp.
TheAdmiester is talking about the damage its self, it's far more realistic than IV. Only the problem is the cars are way to strong, but the deformation is leaps and bounds from IV.
that was the FUN part about it, WAS being able to actually do that, now in v, we cant, because the cars take years to get any sort of visual damage other then scratches, and i think that rockstar made a horrible and stupid decision in that, because now its impossible to get any kind of damage without crashing a freaking plane into a car :/
Logoster, every time I check this forum, you're the last post of this thread. And every post you make seems to be incessant whining. Please, if you don't like the game, don't play it. Don't try and bring it down for everyone else. Maybe the fact you're a BeamNG fanatic means that you expect brilliant damage models from every game in the world (even games which don't have damage as its sole purpose). I, and many other people, actually believe the damage in GTA V is fine. I like the fact you have to have a massive crash to get some real good aesthetically pleasing damage. I find reading complaints perfectly fine, but it gets boring when every post of yours is the same argument over and over again. Get over it, please.
Really? Then why is Trackmania such a big hit? With world records all around the world? That game is arcady as hell, but it's way more challenging to win a race in that than it is in GTA IV... I personally love the driving in GTA 5... Could do with a little less grip or just a little less braking traction, but other than the grip, the cars feel really nice to drive. I said this before, but to me, the cars in GTA IV felt like big boats, even when you were driving a nippy little hatchback. Just about the only car that felt properly nice and nippy was the Futo... We always did cops vs robbers roleplaying in GTA 4 freemode(with as little shooting as possible and blips off)... I don't think any rp'ing cop ever managed to catch me in the Futo unless there was about 4 other cops ramming me off the road... Good times. That said, I can't wait to get GTA 5 on PC and see what the cars will be like when we simply decrease the tire friction a lot(and leaving the rest as it is).
thats not true, i dont expect brilliant damage models from every game, however, rockstar really did do a horrible job this time with how much work it takes to get any freaking damage, i mean, honestly, its a freaking step down from gta iv, EVEN GTA SA, had better damage then this
I've played a lot of GTA SA in my time, easily some thousands of hours. GTA SA most certainly did not have better damage. The damage in that game was entirely predefined and, as far I know, it was quite buggy in terms of the fact you get hit in the back and you get damage on the front (or something). The thing about GTA V is that you have to have a big crash in order to get damage. Try driving in front of a moving train and admire the damage, it's nice. I can totally understand Rockstar's damage system. They were clearly aiming for a fun gaming experience wherein you didn't have to acquire a new car every other minute - I personally like this system very much but to each his own.
if you drive in front of a train, YOULL FREAKING DIE, before you see ANYTHING, seriously, you have to do such a huge crash to get any visible damage, that youll probably destroy the car before you see anything :/
No you won't. Driving in front of a train will BADLY damage your car, and it's definitely visible. You need to be hit awkwardly or squashed against something for it to actually blow up.
You have a point, I didn't meant every arcade game. I had GTA SA in my mind. I haven't played GTA5 and judged it only by videos, so sorry, a simple driving might be good but the braking, explosiveness and lack of bouncyness on cars is just bad, and I'm disappointed in Rockstar a bit.
If you hit a train, no you will not explode most of the time (acutally never happened to me) but if your car gets a lot of visible damage, wich doesn't happen everytime, it's looks even more ugly than in gta4, it has 10mio wierd bugs. And I am not saying I dislike the gta5 damage or I prefer the gta4 one it's just the point that badly crashed cars in gta4 look way less ugly than badly crashed cars in gta5. Also the explosion they put ingame is really usless, why the fuck do I explode if I do a small rollover? This is just stupid, unrealistic and makes me want to rage quite.
About cars exploding. Read this: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EveryCarIsAPinto Then take into account the fact that almost the entirety of GTA is based around movies. Michael's love for old movies, his character and one of the heists being based on Heat, etc.
Well actually there is smoke. You can faintly see it in the front (weird spot being a rear engine car.) That's the main problem with the engine smoke, you can barely see it.
I've picked up the game and to be honest it's a mixed bag. I enjoyed the SA storyline and I enjoyed the hilarity of the GTA4 storyline as well. So far, not really digging the story-lines in GTA5 but they're not bad at all. Here's what it boils down to for me. WHEN a car takes significant damage in GTA5, the damage modeling is pretty awesome and perhaps the best in the series that I've seen; HOWEVER, the threshold of force required to physically damage your car I thought was much more realistic in GTA4. In GTA5 here's not really any consequences most of the time. Heck, I got out of my car and with 3 or 4 kicks, did more damage to the front wheels than a full speed head-on collision did. Pretty crazy. Seems to sum up a lot of the rants on here as well as my general feelings on the matter. Thoughts?
Does anyone else other than me drive around and give every driver the bird, usually ends up in me being chased by the AI but it's really fun. I massively stuffed up the other day, I cut a corner in a truck while being chased and there was a Bravado Banshee trying to pull out, I hit it and pushed it straight into the tree at speed and you guys probably know what happened.
Agreed. They just need to make the hoods buckle upwards properly and make the cars as strong(or weak, rather) as they were in GTA IV, and then you've got perfect deformation for a GTA game. I don't know how far in the storyline you are, but it gets better After about midway-through, the stories really drag you into them... Yesterday I could barely sleep after going to bed at 4 in the morning because I wanted to finish the game soooo badly to see what would happen next, and then what would happen ever that, and then after that, etcetera... As for the damage: I think the reason for that, is that the cops are so much harder to evade. You get cops after you for jacking a car, and you end up spending a full minute waiting for the cops to stop searching *after* you go out of sight... Maybe even longer than a minute, sometimes. In other GTAs it too like what, 20 seconds and they gave up searching. Plus, here the cops actually find you even if you are out of sight. They still know where you are even when you're hiding in an alley... Then on top of that, they're a lot smarter in chasing you in general. When they're right in front of you, you can't just fake them out by steering one direction and then going the other. Now, I'm not saying the new cop system is a good or a bad thing... I don't know. Mostly it's a good thing, but I don't like how they always seem to magically know where you are. I loved how the police in GTA IV actually seemed to be searching you, and sometimes ran right passed the alley you were in. Here, I've been hiding in an alley out of sight(according to the radar/hud) and 3 copcars drive into the alley from 3 different sides at the same time, I've seen cops turning aruond on a street even though the hud/radar said no cop had a visual on me... The time it takes for them to stop searching gets a bit annoyingly long sometimes. However, overall, I do really like the difficulty of the police. It's always a challenge to evade them, even with 1-2 stars at the end of the storyline while in a normal car. In other GTAs it was a joke with 1-2 stars after about halfway through in any vehicle, cause you'd have all the weapons and you could predict whatever a copcar would do. What do you guys think about the new police? Also, I suggest anyone to make double savefiles after like, 50% completion(unless you turned off auto-save). I've heard from multiple friends that they wanted to redo certain parts yet couldn't(apart from just the replay-mission thing)
I get someone pissed, then see how far up chiliad they will follow me. Actually the last 'most fun' I had was taking the wrong way up the mountain on a bmx bike (very hard), then when I got to the observation spot, spawned a stunt plane, rolled off the side and into the air, got enough air speed and pulled up before I hit the side of the mountain and flew away. - - - Updated - - - I'm mixed. Spike strips are awesome. Taking on 1-3 stars is manageable if you have a bullet vest and a good weapon. But yeah, evading and hiding, avoiding the radar...not quite as good as IV. They sure do pop up whenever they damn please....
