The worst part is that the "environmentalists" (in-name only) will always say "Go buy a new Tesla (or whatever electric car) to save the Earth", like they don't know that will harm the environment further. You want to stop polluting Earth? Plant some trees (plants EAT CO2 to grow via photosynthesis), and for cars buy an used car that is from reliable brands (preferrably no forced induction bc more parts = more problems), those gimmicks in the "environmentally friendly" electric cars are absolute scams, once a part is damaged, more likely the entire car had to be replaced especially the battery.
All non-repairable car is a scam, only buy electric cars with user-serviceable batteries. --- Post updated ---
I see a lot of hate for EV's and I do see the point in the Modern EV hate but I want to point this out. EV's are only slightly younger then ICE engines and they are stupidly good for city environments. There are currently recyclable safe and long lasting batteries on the market right now. Lithium Salt batteries have been shown to be BETTER at holding a charge, more charge time and a longer life at the COST of lower power output. So rather seeing lets say a tesla getting a 5.6 second 0-60 time it would probably be a 7 second 0-60 time as a example. ICE engines will STILL hold out better for long range drivers. This is due to their rapid refueling time at the cost of more frequent heavier maintenance time (such as oil, transmission fluid, coolant ect) not to say EV's don't have to do it either. The issue with Modern EV's is the lack of part changing which is done by design. Some EV's from the 1920's had easily accessible powerplants that could change the batteries out with very little effort in only 30mins or less. (note image below is NOT using the original type of batteries as it has been converted to use what I assume is Lead acid batteries but the idea is the same). If this was done on a modern EV you could have 1 or more spare power packs pre charged for longer distance travelers ready to go or even bring with you. But we live in a world where this idea is forgotten for planned obsolescence and intentional bad design choices. Rather then suggest customers to buy official replacement parts and have them do the work for you (or their local mechanic) post warranty it's more corporate logical to force them to buy a new car every 7 or so years thus leading to more waste and less value on the vehicle once it leaves the lot. I just want to go back. Beamng.drive allows me to drive the classics in the way I want to. One day I hope we can see one of these kinds beauties in game and I hope something like them returns to the real world but I doubt on BOTH accounts:
And yet they have the gall to say we are destroying the environment for buying used ICE cars to reutilizing them as long as things permit (PREVENTING waste generation).
Here are the 4 things that help with people not using ICE vehicles. Trains, Buses, bycicle paths and public transport being reliable.
THIS. The truth is they are destroying the environment by making things hard to repair. --- Post updated --- Everybody should hate this
Or, for example, the fact that the Xbox 1 requires an internet connection to play any of your electronically downloaded games (aka games you don’t have the physical disc for) even though they are downloaded to the console.
If software update has potential to brick the car, it IS A FATAL FLAW and the car has to be recalled and component re-manufactured that an unsuccessful software update won't brick the car, just like recalling cars with faulty air bags or floor mats
