Yeah, there won't be one for a good while either, sadly. I don't have the time and all the next steps require a bunch of time. Pray for the map, it needs some divine intervention Glad you think it's pretty cool, tho. I'd like to think it's a tad unique.
I've finally gotten a day to work on the map and I've been sorting out new road markings/decals, as well as, attempting to get this road kerbed up and prettified. I've been posting a few lil pictures in the discord so if you want join up.
Little detail but any thoughts on adding that orange/yellow grid in the middle of junctions that means no stopping, otherwise looking great
100%. However, I don't want to make it out of separate lines, so I'm thinking of a way to make it as a decal or road texture. The crossroad does have one IRL, but it's faded in the middle not the edges and you can only fade lines from start or end points. Nitpicky on my behalf, I know. --- Post updated --- Bus turnaround kerb made and using it to force players back into the map. We'll use the classic road closed technique to force a 180. That said, I won't put up invisible walls anywhere, so if you want to drive past and visit the edge of the world, you're more than welcome to. Instead of housing, I'm making this turning into the entrance to a race track. I'll put the name of the course on the glass panels, it should look swanky. Happy for naming suggestions. Some fact to inspire names? The main road it connects to is Scholes Lane. The road the entrance replaces is Bishops Road. It's opposite a school called St Monica's. The whole crossroad is looking a lot more put together, it's quite difficult to tell you're approaching the end of the map now. The plan is to continue that feeling up Scholes Lane (the road with the entrance turn). The plan is to kerb the roads in this urban section, making it drivable. After that I'll be returning to finishing the building models for the park (Hall, farmhouse, golf clubhouse, etc)
Not since the last post, but I'm currently in the process of changing jobs so I will have time again in the new year
Been looking for a good British type map for ages now and this one looks amazing good luck with the job and can’t wait for this map
I've been working on making blockouts of house models to fill out the urban section I'm working on. (To add location diversity). Right now they're only textured collision meshes, so, very low poly but once they're in they'll help build out the map.
Just wanted to show you some of the areas and buildings that I've been working on, plus, a little loop around the map for fun. Obviously, there's a heap of work to do, but the aim is kerbs and buildings before the next release. I'll make it pretty much farther into the future.
Are you planning to put into the map English road sign? Anyway when you'll finish this, it'll be one of the most realistic map on beamng
Starting to come together I see. Just noticed that the plate format is right but the designs themselves aren't there.
Yeah, I would also like to make street name signs but need to figure out how to make 'frame-able' textures so I don't have to create a unique file for each. I'm not even sure if this is possible, it works for decals, so I'm sure somehow it is. Also, only if the performance can hold. I don't know if there are any soft or hard limits to number of forest objects. Same issue with decal roads. I wonder at what point they begin to severely hurt performance. I don't think UK plate designs are in the game, only US and EU. I don't think JG is an actual reg code tho.
Might be worth checking out this mod by JorgePinto in case you haven’t heard of it, absolute must-have for me yellow rear plates work with a good few mods out there too
