INB4 People say this mod is dead: I am just having too much sh*t going on these months in general and I have exams coming up in a week. Also my laptop storage is tiny soo I will probably have to upgrade it along the RAM too.
Alright I am resuming on working on this mod with me learning more of how the Jbeam works. The engine JBeam will be Bolide-based and so as the AWD system that I learned from making a Bolide AWD prototype. There is some changes on the V8 model as well which it will be based on the Bolide LS7 model.
Sneak peek on new revised body (yes also made the mid interior that will NOT collide with the front seats mesh)
6.2L OHV V8 fits surprisingly well, I assume V10 will do the same too. Adjusted the subframe attachments to suspension for the mid engine version too. Now moving on to the engine mounts. June 19th Update: V10 does fit the engine bay very well like the V8. Tbh I might gonna be lazy on the turbo parts and reuse them (dw tho I will make sure the manifolds and piping fit for each engine)
Maybe you can put in like, a (super/turbo)charged boxer 8 engine... Hirochi seems like the weird, quirky company and I think it would fit quite well... Just a suggestion though, I love the progress
So it is an SBR4 but equally as terrifying to drive as a Scintilla. As Alex Kersten from Car Throttle says, "Danger is fun!"
Boo! Since I am a psychopath, I need a car more dangerous than a Bolide. Something to piss a lot of people off, including sim racers! (This is a joke, I still want to be alive)
Done subframe modification with connection to unibody. Now only engine piping to go as well as coolant lines and fuellines (Done by June 26th). 5.2L V10 and 6.2L V8 are overlapped yes (WIP) Edit: Done the coolant and fuel lines, now try to model the front diff as transfercases for AWD system (or I might have to port model from ETK or Scintilla)
What's done for now: Changed some ideas about the engine parts and I have decided to share the turbocharging as well as supercharging (NA too for the pipes and throttle bodies) between the LS and the V10. The exhaust header pipes are done too. New issues: However I have discovered a relatively minor issue with the chassis' normals (red when viewed from outside for the engine bay chassis) meaning I will have to duplicate another time and then adjust the nodes and the model with the normals flipped (so it doesn't look transparent when looking from the outside like the engine bay). @Javascript_ @Kueso @haraja
Done the models dae (finally), the engine will be based on the Bolide JBeam as well as the transaxle too (including the transfercase since the base SBR4 does NOT have a transfercase at all), my Bolide AWD prototype will come handy here. Anyways, time for a pic dump
Alright I got good news and bad news as I am porting the models and adjusted jbeam into the game. The good news is that the models and textures (save for the mid engine bay interior where I still need to find a way to flip those normals), the bad news is that the body jbeam is a dumpster fire. V10 Engine model btw:
Idk why the muffler is out that far tbh Edit: Also the engine mesh front seems to be droppy despite the engine beams are good @Javascript_
@driftbox Can you please do the lettering models for the Sunstorm (both the texture maps and the dae in SBR4)? Similar the way you were doing with the ETK 800 V10 mod? png with transparent base is already provided btw. I want each of the word (Sunstorm, GT, S, R, 8, 10, SC, TT to be separate so making configs lettering would be easier.
Use edge split modifier in blender @55°-ish to get rid of weird shading, looking forward to driving this!
There are also much bigger problems that will jeopardizing the car's driving than the shading, check pms. Edit: Also I opened Blender for the engine alignment and it looks good and matches the cooling pipes, idk why in Beam the mesh is dipping to the front
Why tf the engine is dipping to the front?! Also the beams should be moving back too! Blender before exporting (note the red circles where the cooling hoses match unlike in the game):
Good news: Turns out as I deleted the node offset in the engine section of the body, it went back to normal (incl. the oil pan too). Now all thats left is the lettering.
It looks quite cool! But looks mostly like just the normal KLJP SBR4 though. I thought it would be more "coupe" shaped?
Yes I intend to keep the KLJP like SBR4 since it does already look like an Audi R8 (which this mod is based on), and it will use a mid-engine layout with a 5.2L V10 ofc. @Kueso and @LJ74 already gave permission via PMs to use the body.
