After doing thorough independent testing I have concluded that The Goliath is in fact one of the present delivery vehicles of all time.
Finally, some results! Each of the four valid entries in the Automation category of the contest was evaluated on the following points scale: Overall Appearance (10 points): Does the entry look good overall? Is the design cohesive and believable? We will be looking over all of the entries in Beam to see how your design turned out! Attention to detail (10 points): This both ties in with appearance, as well as the technical aspect of the design; did the designer take all the little details you would find in a car into consideration, or did they just focus on the basics and call it a day? Are fixtures, paint, etc. tidy and coherent, or sloppy and messy, and did they make the export from Automation properly? Performance: (10 points) How does the design behave in Beam? Does it work as well as you would think, based on the appearance and presentation? Presentation (5 points): How did you present your mod in the BeamNG Mod Repository? Is there a cool backstory to it? Did you make some really awesome pictures or videos to help showcase your design? Originality and Creativity (5 points): Are you doing something really fun and off the wall? You’ll get high marks here! Spirit of the Challenge (10 points): How related is your design to the theme of the challenge? The performance test was done on a custom-made route on the Automation Test Track map that took approximately 15 minutes to complete, on average. This route was a mix of the test track, the surrounding highways as well as a bit of gravel road, and was a true test of an entrant’s overall performance. Now without further ado, the results! These will be listed by names given on the BeamNG Mod Showcase. 4th place - Galaxy Midnight (20.5 points) https://beamng.com/resources/29978 Overall Appearance: 4 points Attention to detail: 4 points Performance: 3 points Presentation: 3.5 points Originality: 2 points Spirit of the Competition: 4 points The turbo badge on a naturally-aspirated vehicle is worth...some horsepower, right? It's fast as hell definitely, but it really kinda misses the mark, not the least of which because it's so fast that it's basically undriveable. The design is simple, and the colour scheme is a bit...garish, to say the least. Not bad for a first car, but in comparison with the rest, it doesn't quite stack up. 3rd place - charge_1 (23.5 points) https://beamng.com/resources/29396 Overall Appearance: 4 points Attention to detail: 4.5 points Performance: 3 points Presentation: 2.5 points Originality: 3 points Spirit of the Competition: 6.5 points My goodness this is...something. It's nice to see people embracing the various trim description commands we've included in Automation! Unfortunately, this one doesn't get particularly high marks for how it drives; the skinny tires brings that slippy, slidey winter driving sensation to dry pavement at all times, and...is that a cannon on the back? 2nd place - MasterN00b22 (24.5 points) https://beamng.com/resources/29969 Overall Appearance: 7 points Attention to detail: 6 points Performance: 5 points Presentation: 2.5 points Originality: 2 points Spirit of the Competition: 2 points It's a van alright...and a bit of a silly one at that! Inspired by a real-world minivan (we'll leave it to your imagination which one), this one spares no expense in the go-fast parts, it seems, except...where it actually counts! It drives reasonably well, but it writes a cheque with its appearance that its performance can't cash otherwise. Not particularly holiday-themed either. 1st place - M4rviiin (31.5 points) https://beamng.com/resources/29900 Overall Appearance: 5.5 points Attention to detail: 7 points Performance: 4 points Presentation: 4 points Originality: 4 points Spirit of the Competition: 7 points Lots of stuff going on with this one. Great use of the trim description commands and some tasteful modding done to the base Automation car, and a wide array of holiday-themed trims! Nicely presented, both within the mod and also on the repository as well. The performance is a bit scary...the suspension tuning in particular will give us nightmares for a long time! A reasonably good effort, all things considered! And there you have it; congratulations to M4rviiin for their win in this category! Please send me a message, so we can work out how best to get your prizes to you!
The Automation team has published the results for the Automation category on their own forum a while ago. (https://discourse.automationgame.co...oliday-modding-contest-final-results-up/48660) I guess we have to wait a bit more for an official announcement. EDIT: Or simply look above my message, since the results got now published here as well
Hey, modders! We’ve finally been able to go through all the mods submitted for the Holiday Modding Contest, and now it’s time to announce the winners! Eligible entries for this contest were vehicles, vehicle modifications, Automation creations, maps and map modifications, and gameplay mods, and all entries were to be submitted through the Mod Repository. Now, without further ado, here are the winners! First up we have an honorable mention for @Lordlichi2006 with the Winter Themed Tasticola Delivery Truck 1.0 mod. This neat little mod added some festive lights to the Tasticola Delivery Truck, but showed that attention to detail will always win out. One of our judges was quite impressed that even the hood ornament was jbeamed and the snowflakes colorable. Lordlichi2006 will be receiving a set of posters and 1x BeamNG game key. In third place, we have @austen64 with ‘Santa’s Mobile Workshop’ Gavril D45. This cabin rests on an ambulance base, and has been outfitted with improvements that should allow Santa to optimize his efficiency by delivering toys as they’re built. The judges loved this concept, pronouncing it one of the best in the contest. Austen64 is taking home $50, a set of exclusive BeamNG posters, and a set of game keys for BeamNG as well as Automation and its DLC. Second place goes to @SubieBerry ’s Christmas-themed flatbed! The Christmas Flatbed comes with Gift-Wrapped Cargo Box XL options for all flatbed sizes, as well as working Christmas lights for the 48’ flatbed. The lights can be toggled using the flatbed’s hazards, and when the trailer is connected to another vehicle the indicators will be synced, while the Christmas lights will still work independently. Our judges were very impressed with the way the hazard lights were used to toggle the Christmas lights. SubieBerry wins $150, a set of exclusive BeamNG posters, and two sets of game keys for BeamNG as well as Automation and its DLC. And now, finally, we come to first place. The winner of the Holiday Modding Contest is @AwesomeCarlPlays, with the T-Series mod ‘The Goliath’. The Goliath is a beast of a vehicle, built on a Gavril T83 frame and sporting a number of features including rocket assist and ‘Semi-Automatic Rapid Present Delivery System’. The Goliath is ready and waiting to take on the apocalypse or Christmas, whichever comes first. Our judges were delighted with this mod, calling it ‘the most creative by far’. One of the judges enjoyed the easter egg, while another found the present cannon quite impressive. AwesomeCarlPlays wins the competition’s grand prize, which consists of $300, a set of exclusive BeamNG posters, three sets of game keys for BeamNG, Automation, and Automation’s DLC, as well as a winner’s certificate. Winners, please contact @Leeloo about your prizes. Congratulations to all our winners, and thank you to everyone who participated!
