How do I insert GIFs into posts/repo pages?

Hello there,
I wanted to upgrade the repo page of my Gavril Vertex a little bit by adding in some GIFs to showcase some of the many custom made lua bits and bops, however, how can I even insert those?
I have asked on discord but either got no answer at all or a "no" as answer, hence I am asking here.
I do know that you can drop GIFs in like i will show below, however those will only play after you clicked on them. What I want to do is having GIFs that automatically start playing, like on the Dev blog or some of Dummiesman's mods for example

So... does anyone know how to do that?

I guess you could try uploading to imgur and inserting them as an image.
If that doesn't work, maybe this helps:
Only some gif sizes are supported. It's really weird but that's how it is.
The one from the beam generator site is 650 x 443 pixels big.
I've resized yours here (not sure if it works tho, can't see in the typing box):

IMGUR WORKS YES
(just use the forum embed link provided by imgur directly)

 

Try putting the gif on your desktop first and then mouse drag it into the post, that made a difference for me earlier.

The easiest way to do it is to put img in square brackets at the beginning, paste a link & close it with /img in square brackets

 

Okay so I am currently trying it but it just does not work at all
I can't post it as media, cant use the embed link from imgur, the imgut link doesnt work either and what Sithhy said with the img stuff also doesnt work
