Considering I don't even think 12K screens exist, I would imagine that he is just supersampling at a higher resolution than his screen can produce... supposedly it makes the image look better even if you don't have the pixels to physically help with it. Ganted... 12k is a crazy high supersample even still...
You are right, 12K screens don't exist. All of my screenshots are taken in BeamNG's own photo mode using the built-in feature for taking high-resolution screenshots (https://wiki.beamng.com/Screenshots#Taking_High-Resolution_.28Big.29_Screenshots )
Oh.... holy crap... I had no idea that that was even a thing! And hilariously as you can see in my screenshot... I even had it pulled up I'm an idiot sometimes I swear...
As we all are, didn't knew about such feat, now I wish I would remember that feat longer than 5 minutes as it might be useful sometimes
Protip: lower graphics, make the screen the lowest res, pause the game when you spawn a new vehicle. That's always worked for me, and i can get up to 16 cars before my cpu begins to cry for mercy
92 Vehicles before my PC locked up and had to do a force shut-down. I don't know if this is enough proof, but as seen, it says "clone92" which means vehicle 92. Here's some progress pics. My Memory did not like this! (Had Graphics on lowest and had game paused with both of these pics)
I dropped 64 shopping carts on a roamer using the map editor, that was as much as I could spawn before they started becoming invisible. Also had graphics settings high because it was for a Youtube video.
My drivable UFO is light to render, so I had to test how many I can do. Graphics on high, shadows on partial, pure grid and 100 UFOs: Each ufo is over 50 meters wide, so they take quite bit of space. Well, it did crash for this, maybe 1 less would of been enough... However these are so light that even potato computer can run many of them.
added 100 cars with physics disabled, and can have 63-64 cars with it enabled. any more and the game just crash to decktop.
Holy sh!t how do you run that so well!!! --- Post updated --- Also the other day I tried to spawn 63 pigeon bed trailers and hook them up to a roamer, but i gave up on like 20
Yes I recorded in 16x slowmo. I had it in realtime but it was running at 8-10fps. And thats no fun to watch
So, I decided to hop into this test wagon of everyone pushing their PCs to their limits. The most cars I spawned before I decided to stop was 40 idling cars, and my frame rate during realtime physics with the current graphic settings I used was 1.6FPS... and even with the physics paused, my GPU struggled to render all those cars, resulting in the fps being at about 8 or so, but the game just would not crash. The location was in the Hirochi Raceway parking lot, starting off at a pleasant 59FPS with just one car on the field, and predictably... my fps sharply dips down as soon as I add in that third car. The graph would go like this: 1 car: 59fps 2 cars: 50fps 3 cars: 29fps 4 cars: 17fps 8 cars: 8.5fps 16 cars: 3.7fps 30 cars: 2fps 40 cars: 1.6fps I probably could have spawned a lot more cars than what you see in the picture below. But I think by the time Beam would crash, I think my whole PC would pretty much be locked up at that point. Not to mention the UI became very unresponsive from just having four cars in the playing field. In conclusion, I really am only able to run 2 active cars in Beam at most at my current graphics settings on this current PC (which is now 3 years old) without experiencing any real major slowdowns while still having the game look nice and pleasing to the eye.
lowest graphics 99 red d-series, green one marks the middle, it said "fatal vehicle something" when i cloned the 100th and game crashed soon after lol
