i would really like to know how to setup the lighting to get the best results with baking a texture for a car or wheels. and general tips for texturing are very welcome.
Baking AO Many people tend to overdo AO when baking. Some come up with really aggressive AO, others with completely black spots (usually because two objects are too near). There is no 'universal' setup for a good AO imho, all depends on your scene. Here's a few thing you can look at when baking: Falloff Falloff decides how dark AO can get. I'd consider it as an 'AO Strenght' Higher the value, less darker AO. Lower or disabled, darker the AO. 0 (disabled) http://i.imgur.com/1pAKk3L.jpg 0.500 1 http://i.imgur.com/xNLUKu7.jpg Margin Margin will help your model have less 'black' seams. It's inevitable in any 3D app. Very visible when the camera is far from the object. Bigger margin will make it less visible at greater distances. thanks a bunch for the response --- Post updated --- @Nadeox1 . i have been trying the AO baking but i dont get the desired result. the texture get patches of black and i dont know how to fix this. do you know how to?
If you hide a mesh, it will still affect the render. Press ALT+H, it will unhide all the hidden meshes. If you have something intersecting the rim, it's probably the cause of that. Try to move the part you want to bake to a different layer else.
