My experience has been that Acer has quite high failure rate, those have always been bit less durable, but then again what is durable these days? You might need to increase a budge to be able to run BeamNG with a laptop, gaming laptops tend to cost bit more, but also those are bulky and heavy, or then don't run heavy software like BeamNG well. For a GPU anything less than 1050Ti from desktop world might be little bit of too little and if wanting to play 1080p, then you need more GPU power. MX150 might not be quite up to task (does that have dedicated memory? You would need 4GB vram to play all mod maps in BeamNG) , also i5 U-model is not the most powerful CPU, you would very much like to have 16GB of ram too.
Mx150 is a relabelled gt1030 from desktop world and virtually no changes --- Post updated --- It's a tad woeful but would launch beam
I have that exact laptop. On it right now. Runs flawless. A little eency weency bit of lag on West Coast USA. --- Post updated --- And on the highest graphics.
Let's see some numbers, subjective is so subjective? I know 1050Ti can run beam just fine as long as you stick to 720p and forget max detail settings on most maps.
could run beamng maby normal settings without reflections 30fps maybe your better off custom building a pc better specs for less
Anything with an i5/i7 mobile processor, that has a Geforce 950m/960m or better graphics, used, at pawn shops or at independent computer stores used should be around 150~250$. That's your best bet unless a friend has one they're selling when they get a new one. Try to find one with 8gb of RAM. The above graphics chipsets won't run Beamng.drive on MAX, you might even have to use low-to-medium settings and 720p for 30~50fps or so, but they'll run it surely.
I have a dell latitude E5440 w/ 12Gb RAM Intel i3 4030U dual-core @ 1.90 GHz 1tb Seagate Firecuda SShd UI is slow, but I also get about 10-30 FPS on minimum settings
CPU @ 1.9ghz and integrated graphics (if that's what you use) holds that back. For best results, get 3ghz + cpu and dedicated graphics processor or Mobile Ryzen CPU with ingrated VEGA GPU chip inside CPU.
Well, I can't really afford that at the moment. At least it works! (Btw I almost cringed when I bought this game off of Steam to play it on my Latitude.)
Well if you're that dedicated to play this game and love it that much, cheers to you mate. That's dedication!
Well if you're on a tight budget always peruse the shelves at the local Thrift Shop, Pawn Shops, Independent PC shops used-PC section (mom&pop small business), and for the daring, craigslist/LSN/ebay (make sure to SEE it working!). Seriously, you might not be totally out of luck.
there are 5 things i would change about your suggested build it is absolutely unnecessary to have 2 hard drives of 1TB and 500GB when a 2TB hard drive costs about half as much unless one is a backup drive. for the average gamer looking for a pc on a $500 budget 8gbs of ram is going to be plenty. the peripherals are way overkill and expensive for the average $500 pc gamer. cooler master cases get really expensive. and use a current GTX 1050 TI because older GTX 780's don't have as much ram and the drivers are more likely supported for today and will last you a lot longer. its just a suggestion but maybe have an ssd for faster loading times. if your going to be going to school just use the laptop that you already have and biuld a PC.
Basically that is what i have decided to do although I had to get a new laptop since my old one is falling apart. I plan to build a PC near the end of my current semester.
