Sooo this looks cool. I booted up the 64 bit version and the 86 bit version of beamng drive at the same time and wanted to see what would happen. This is the results. I have no clue if this has been done before but I wanted to share it with everyone as this could be a possible way to play splitscreen for people with beefy computers. I remember that there was a way to play MP and it was called BeamMP I think? And maybe you could connect these two beamng drive instances together. If your pc is 64 bit then you will get that message like that shown on screen so beware. Pc specs is gtx 1060 6gb, i5 8300h and 8gigs of ram. --- Post updated --- Update: I got splitscreen to work completely fine as you can see here which is pretty nice! I did have to shut them down since im only running 8 gb of ram (im going to upgrade to 32gb of ram sooner or later). It was pretty cool to get something like this to work and surprisingly simple! Important: You dont have to run x86 but instead copy the x64 and just run both of them! I ALSO USE KISSMP. I made google research and apparently KissMP is better. So splitscreen works pretty alright you need atleast 16 gigs of ram to run 2 beamng drives smoothly I believe. --- Post updated --- So the only problem we have now is that if you change bindings on screen one it will also change the bindings for screen two so we cant really control our cars with different controllers. Both of the beamng drives uses the same files so if one thing is changed in beamng drive one it will also be changed to beamng drive two since theyre connected. If beamng drive added configs for your own bindings in beamng drive which had their own independent file then maybe it could work but at the moment we would have to find a different solution. Maybe there is a way to make beamng drive not recognize a controller? The reason you want that is so you can have 2 controllers and choose what controller beamng drive 1 and 2 recognizes. My controller sometimes wouldnt be recognized when i booted up beamng drive with ds4windows app and then turning the app off whilst beamng drive is on. (Ds4windows is an app which makes your ps controller be recognized as xbox360 controller).
Interesting but calling it splitscreen is a little misleading I think. This is really just running 2 instances of the game, and playing together using multiplayer.
If you set a different user folder for the other instance in the manage user folder option of the launcher, that should fix the problem.
